    Game of Thrones Sneak preview

I just watched HBO's most recent "Making of...." for the Game of Thrones, it was amazing. What a wonderful look inside the how they are able to put this together. This is going to be seriously epic. I hope viewers stay along for at least 4-5 episodes before making judgement.

    Game of Thrones Sneak preview

It is a lot of politics. And there's some battles as well. Keep in mind, there are almost two stories going on. The Starks of the north, with Eddard "Ned" Stark becoming the new Hand of the King, the Lannister resistance, the events at the Aerie.. all being one story. And then there is the...

    Game of Thrones Sneak preview

Ahhh. I get it. There is certainly some "magic" in the series, but you are right. AGoT is decidedly low magic / dangerous magic and gritty fantasy, But I don't think a few glowing eyes will make people presume it is a magic-heavy story.

    Game of Thrones Sneak preview

The previous clips were all trailers for the season as a whole, but this preview is supposed to be the first 10-15 minutes of the first episode. Maybe that's where you were a bit confused?

    Game of Thrones Sneak preview

If they stay relatively true to the books, there will be action, make no mistake about it. And there will be shocking results at the most inopportune times.

    Game of Thrones Sneak preview

Definitely my most anticipated show this year. Even more so than any of the Marvel/DC comic book movies we're gonna get bombarded with this summer/winter.

    Game of Thrones Sneak preview

Let me add that I got the chills because the prologue was perfectly spot on (as an adaption to TV).

    Game of Thrones Sneak preview

Wow. Just.....wow. They did the prologue and part of Chapter 1: Bran mixing in some other perspectives. The actors are perfect. Eddard Stark, Bran, Anya, Jon Snow. The prologue piece was spot on for th screen. I never thought they could translate this story to the screen, but my critical...

Clark Peterson of Necromancer Games: BACK IN ACTION?

I agree. The GG modules were easy to run in a pinch without much prep, but the really good Necro modules required some reading. They tended to be more sandboxy and as a result, needed to familiarity. They were my favorite 3.x 3PP.

    DDI Monster Builder

I see where you are going with the microtransactions, but that is much better suited to a single-player, or single-user type game. What I mean is... buying $.99 mp3s or $1.99 android games for my Droid X is a business model that works mostly because I am usually enjoying these things by myself...

    DDI Monster Builder

This. I like Maptools, but if the WOTC VTT can make character and monster integration simple, I can focus on adventure and encounter design. Yup. I don't have any WotC map tiles, but I do have maps I have made from Skeleton Key tiles, and I have a lot of jpg/png/cc3/dundjinni/ maps from the...

Picture of the Week: Take that, foul servants of Blibdoolpoolp (in honor of J Roslof)

    Fish-heads, fish-heads, rolly-polly fish-heads. Fish-heads, fish-heads, eat them up, yum. I took a fish-head out to see a movie, Didn't have to pay to get her in.

New D&D Monster Builder Coming March 22

I am glad for the new MB. I hope it has the same general functionality as the offline MB. I trust that even without export at initial launch, it will come.

    Being Human

I am starting to really like the US Being Human. It's getting less angsty, pretty-boy. And MORE exploring the deep emotional experience and pain that comes with being non-human.

    Wise Man's Fear

I only read Name of the Wind, and I bought it because it was SO well reviewed. Even skimming Amazon reviews, there are some amazing things said about the book. Last night after I posted, I went on amazon and more thoroughly read some of the positive and negative reviews. I rarely read 1 or 2...

    Wise Man's Fear

Wow, really? When I read the first book, I felt like someone had stolen part of my life. A perfect, over-the-top Mary Sue character, dialogue that felt like it was written by a 9th grader, and mind-numbing exposition and "storytelling". Dude cannot grasp the idea "Show, don't tell."...

RPG Hot (and Cold) Spots - What are good (and not-so-good) gaming towns?

I know, I know! I am all talk the last couple of years. I blame my dear daughter who is turning 3 on April 7th. My intentions to com join everyone in the spring NC gamedays seemed to get ruined by things like child-birth and birthdays. :p Not attending the fall NC gamedays is all on me. I...

Top Ten SF&F novels of the decade

I read 2, 6, 10 as well. :) I really liked American Gods, and of course I enjoy the G.R.R. Martin stuff. Though, admitedly, A Feast for Crows didn't grab me like the first three.

    What happened to Reveille?

I remember this. It was bizarre watching it go down, and prior to finding out that it was all a hoax, he had received an outpouring of prayers and well wishes. Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't someone even offered to lead a charge for donations to help pay medical bills? And then when...
