    Roll That 20!!!

It's become so rare that I roll a 20 I am always excited. When it's for something really important like the death save, I am jump in the air excited. The dice give the game it's mystery and I still love watching the rolls to this day.

Have You Purchased Any Additional 4e Supplements Beyond the First Three Core Books?

The Core books, the first two H modules, and now the Manual of the Planes. I have one of the last from each edition and enjoy reading them all.

ENworlder: How long have you been gaming?

I started in '80 with some second-hand books and never looked back. I can't believe I've been playing for 29 years :).

What have been your best/worst 4e combat encounters?

It's funny because all of our combats have been exciting but tense. Mostly it is because in my group we all roll horribly. I've hit with my Warlock's Daily once in about 25 tries. So far I think combat in 4E is much less forgiving of bad die rolls than I remember earlier editions to be.

    Videogame Influences!

Heck, in Oblivion the guards even attack each other, which is great fun to watch.

Do you play more for the story or the combat?

For me it's story. I think that's why I'm not as invested in the edition war aspect as other people. A good campaign with well thought-out story and hooks can work in any edition, and has for me. Combat can be fun, but I need a reason to be there fighting.

What is too silly for D&D?

I think he's an interesting god. Instead of some grand high adventure, he became a god on a drunken dare. That's an adventurer there!

    From 1st to Maximum Level

The highest level I've even achieved from 1st is, I believe, 6th. Usually we either have a TPK or a RLPK after that. I've been playing since 1980 also. :)

    Do you like modrons?

I love Modrons. As an implacable horde of pure law, with no mind to good or evil they remind me of the grey goo of nanotech nightmares. I like the shapes and the ranks, but then I really like symmetry.

    Waning interest in expansions...

I have them all also but have only tried one big / one small expansion per game. Are you saying you've done all of them at once?!? That'd be amazing... masochistic but amazing.

When did I stop being WotC's target audience?

I've given up being a DM with 4th Edition. I've mostly been DM for 20+ years, but now that there is an implicit animosity to world builders I don't feel the desire any longer. As to the new Cosmology, it's badly conceived but with good writers could be ok; but if they start shoe-horning every...

When did I stop being WotC's target audience?

I must be different, since I used to read all of the books from front to back and then re-read the parts I needed. The color-coded verbal vomit of the class section of 4E does not really work well with that.

When did I stop being WotC's target audience?

I have almost all of the books for 3+ editions of D&D and I feel the same way about 4th. I do enjoy playing it, but it doesn't inspire me to purchase any of the books. They don't read well. There's no reason to even look at the powers unless you are playing the class. I feel that the game is...

    Ampersand: Graz'zt from MoP

This one is older than 4E. I know that they rebranded demons and devils to fit this paradigm, I just don't see the need for it. I also dislike the 4E cosmology, so I intend to keep demons and devils as they were for the most part.

    Ampersand: Graz'zt from MoP

I don't understand why people think that demons can't have schemers or seducers. Why can't both sides use subterfuge and seduction towards separate goals. A devil would convince a mortal to seek more power or help create / instigate a pogrom. A demon would convince a mortal to murder every in...

Castle Zagyg - The Upper Works (review)

The silver to gold exchange interested me. In one of my old campaigns I used the silver system that was presented in an old Dragon (I think). Basically all of the economy was in silver, most costs were translated to silver. But not all, some were kept as gold to better model a medieval...

Name one thing you love and one thing you hate about 4e D&D

Love: The relative balance between the classes. Hate: The core world as presented, and the horror of it being used in the various settings. I mean, FR had a cosmology and history why did it need to be folded into the core mold? This is one reason I don't want to see them do any other...

Does Metaplot ever work? Forked Thread: Greyhawk 4e

I agree here. If I were to do a Greyhawk campaign today, I would use the '83 box as my basis. Ugh. I really don't like 4E Forgotten Realms. Most of the regions I liked are gone. Not moved to Abeir but just gone. Again I'd go back to the 1e stuff as a basis if I were to run a campaign...

Forked Thread: Death in 4e Poll

All the deaths in my current campaign had to do with on-going damage and bad rolls. But I think you're mostly correct, we're just an anamoly.

    Chargeable DDI Begins in October

Personally if I could really read on-line content in depth I'd consider it. I'd have to add in the amount of printing. I have an eye condition that precludes me from too much on-line reading.
