    D&D 5E Attacks of Opportunity

Am I reading correctly, that in this Edition 5e the correct ruling is that Opportunity attacks happen on moving out of the enemy's reach only? Casting a spell appears to only draw one against a foe with Mage Killer or the like, and ranged attacks do not. Am I missing something here?

    D&D 5E Arcana Domain

Has anyone tried a cleric in the Arcana domain from SCAG? The spell list looks pretty loaded. How are people finding it in play? advice?

    D&D 5E Concentration

The rules do not break game your turn down into the beginning or end of casting a spell. In practical terms, when you say, 'I cast witchbolt on the orc.' you start casting witchbolt and True Strike ends. When you say, 'I cast Witchbolt on the orc' Your concentration goes to Witchbolt and stops...

D&D 5E Is the Monk of the Long Death overpowered?

Correct. Temp hit points as I read the rules now and in earlier editions are replaced not added to, so, if you had 6 and somehow gained 9, you have 9. It has nothing to do with losing the 6. You don't lose regular hit points until your temps are gone. That said, I don't think the monk or the...

    D&D 5E What am I missing?

If the monk has something supernatural going on, it doesn't have to make empirical sense. There are monks that can make their fists glow with holy power can punch through walls. Let them stun the ghost or construct.

D&D 5E Cult of the Dragon Campaign

Draconians meaning creatures with a dragon bloodline. Half dragons, dragon sorcerers, Etc. I'm trying not to use undead like dracolich or Shadow Dragon for the king, but I see a limited number of 5E templates out there. I've toyed with a half dragon Empyrean like perhaps the evil dragon goddess...

D&D 5E Cult of the Dragon Campaign

It's a homebrew world. I've used elements of other settings in the past though including FR and Oriental Adventures.

D&D 5E Cult of the Dragon Campaign

I'm DMing a 5e campaign in which our heroes have stumbled upon a buried city of ancient draconians. The synopsis is that the cult of the dragon led by a clone of one of the ancient survivors is trying to raise the city literally to the sky and restore its former glory, and in the process destroy...

    D&D 5E 5e Magical Girl Class

I agree. You could have her be powered by rainbows and sparkles but only she sees it that way. They are actually tentacles and voices and she could discover the truth later. When it's much too late.

    D&D 5E Prestige Classes

For our Homebrew game, I've been preparing prestige classes for those who are interested for our next campaign. Since Unearthed Arcana showed some guidelines and players who were in our 3.5 campaigns wanted to. I'm finding some easy to translate and others hard. Has anyone else done this? What...

D&D 5E Deal Breakers - Or woah, that is just too much

As a DM I've had people walk, and I've had the opportunity to let people know that they won't be invited again. There are only a couple of things that are hard rules in that regard for me. Rule One: Let them play. We don't tell others that they are playing wrong or that their character is doing...

    D&D 5E Paladin Oathbound/Oathbreaker

all of which makes sense, Thanks. It does give me some ideas though about what I was thinking. If the Oath demands Honorable behavior and obedience to just authority then what about a paladin of a lawful evil god? or a tyrant king?

    D&D 5E Paladin Oathbound/Oathbreaker

In the DMG the Oathbreaker is available as an option at 3rd level, but although the Oath Breaker has some great stuff, if a character in a good party went Oath Breaker, he might not want everyone to know, and may like the features of his oath. What do DMs feel about allowing a player to convert...

D&D 5E Why do (non-deadly) traps exist in your campaign?

I Think often games are hungry for challenges other than combat, and skills for a character need to come up, or they are of no value. When was last time a character cared as much about his bonus to pick a lock as he did for his bonus to hit with a weapon? Answer, the rogue when missing might...

    What 5e got wrong

Falling is a proud nail for me. 1d6 per square up to 20d6 is a lot but even if you maximize it, still survivable by many higher level characters. Some could even keep adventuring effectively the same day. In my lifetime, I've seen people who fell from cliffs, down elevator shafts, even...

    D&D 5E Barbarian troubles

As Skip Williams once said, paraphrased, 'it isn't against the rules for a character to be really good at something.' He wants to be a tank, then so be it, but there are things that a tank isn't that great at. My suggestions: 1. I always use the point buy, not rolling. It's not life, it's a...

    D&D 5E Disintegrate Vs. Druid

The druid and beast are not separate. The beast is the druid. Changing forms does not prevent the spells effects, and the beast form is not a spare body that can be dusted and leave the original intact. If the druid is in beast form and takes enough to reduce him to dust. He's dust. If he's in...

D&D 5E Do you think we will get an Oriental Adventures setting for 5th edition?

So FFG can write a setting book instead of their own game(s) . They'll like the deal if they're paid to like it. If not, well WotC can still make a setting book, and call it 'Something so we don't get sued'. It would be easy enough I think and judging by the number of people discussing it here...

D&D 5E Do you think we will get an Oriental Adventures setting for 5th edition?

So cut the deal, and call it Legend of the 5 Rings. or call it the Rokugan setting. This is the biggest hurdle?
