    Broken and banned

There's certain things I didn't like in a couple of Dragon articles, mainly the Warlock Star Pact article (namely Two-Fold Pact). That's the only thing that strikes me at this moment.

    4e: The final word

Missed the point entirely. I'm not saying people shouldn't criticize the product, or even the authors. I'm saying it's disrespectful to undermine the legitimacy of their work in a way which I have stated repeatedly. My "little music thing" demonstrates the point pretty well, but you seem to have...

When playing D&D I use battlemats...

I love my battlemat! Simple setup really. A few markers, draw simple lines and indicators, I use homemade standees with just names on them for players, and various colored glass beads like those used by TCG players. One of the things that I find is that I run roleplay intensive games, which are...

Testing The Correlation Between Class Preference And 4E Love/Hate

I pick option 3. I am a Dungeon Master by first choice, and put myself in that category for all reasons related to my liking of 4e. But if you'd asked me during 3e what class I would like to play, it would be the more spellcaster-like classes, where as now I'd be happy to play anything.

    4e: The final word

I'm not talking about people not liking it, criticizing it, or not purchasing it. I'm talking about severe disrespect to the writers and designers by pretending that the community (as powerful, important, and vital as they are) retains more authorship than the authors. Yes, there is an emotional...

    Hit Point Representation Poll

A little bit picky, no? Technically, Human and Halfling are two different "Species", not "Races", but it's fair to say that gamers get the point. And hit points are only lost if an attack "Hits", so why not? Otherwise we have to start saying "effects" the enemy, and a 20 can score"critical...

    4e: The final word

Agreed. What I'd edited before was a very vitriolic rant about how sometimes consumers claim ownership of an intellectual property without consideration for authorship, and I finished with a sarcastic note about how if Poison Ivy Press released a product that people didn't like, I'd at least...

    4e: The final word

That's just ridiculous. I don't think he's trying to argue that anything that says D&D on it is the Dungeons & Dragons game. I think he's trying to make the point that the Dungeons & Dragons game is clearly the Dungeons & Dragons game. [EDIT] I rescind the rest of what I have to say. Let's just...

Damn him for trying to end division.

    Dragon Roots Magazine Issue #2

If you go to your account, and scroll down on the sidebar until you reach what I believe is something along the lines of "Paid Subscriptions", click that. Scroll down the page, and it's there you'll find pricing on impressions. You can then manage them from your account. That is my understanding...

    Hit Point Representation Poll

I like and appreciate the thorough way in which 4th Edition mechanics treat hit points as a cinematic abstraction. I don't believe this was as clear in the mechanics of previous editions. "Different/Good"

    Making your own power cards

Hey there! There's so much incredible stuff going on in this thread. So many incredible templates. I was wondering if any of the authors of these templates could tell me if there was a card template that was available for commercial use for products distributed by PDF? There would be full...

4E being immune to criticism (forked from Sentimentality And D&D...)

If that's why they moved to 4th Edition. But I hardly think the development philosophy that launched the design of the entire system was "We need change, whether it's good or bad... let's just... I don't know, let's just change". Full rights to be aired? Yes, speak out, but for how long? When...

4E being immune to criticism (forked from Sentimentality And D&D...)

I suppose my main problem with 4e criticism isn't that it's loaded with subjectivity, but more that people don't offer any alternatives or solutions. Most "criticism" of 4e is just pointless flame-throwing. Criticism implies suggestion of improvement, most of what I've seen at least is... well...

D&D 4E In 4e combat, is an ooze as tall as a human?

Definitely the GM's call. I'd call it in favor of the player's in that situation. Biggest problem I have with oozes in 4e is narrating them. I consider myself a very colorful, descriptive, cinematic narrator. Oozes I find tough in this regard.

    H2 Thunderspire Labyrinth

Good review! On both concerns you raised: 1) My Ranger had an even bigger problem. There's no gear between Shadowfell and Thunderspire that appeals to a bow-ranger specifically. I had to work gear for her in myself. 2) HUGE problem, especially in the Duergar hold. Just too many room to room to...

A PDF store without a publisher fee or royalty cost?

I would be interested, but I'm also interested in how you'll draw in customers from other storefronts. The idea about exclusive products, or products with exclusive previews is a very interesting one, but it sounds like another undertaking on the part of the publisher. I wouldn't mind...
