I'm running an ongoing TOEE campaign using the OSRIC ruleset, but I've fallen in love with some of the rules elements of 5E. Dropping in Ad/Disadvantage seems a no-brainer, but it may be a bit more challenging to add additional elements.
Skills: My idea is to allow the players to select three...
I'm still struggling to finish The Sound and the Fury. When I sit down to read it, my attention inevitably wanders to the stack of comics next to my chair! So, I've decided to take a break and read Red Shirts by John Scalzi. Looks like a lot of fun.
I loved it, but there are so many characters and such scattered storylines that they are having a very hard time maintaining a strong narrative. It is only going to get worse, as well. My kids, who are teen-agers and who have not read the books, are having a hard time keeping up with the story...
or Eosin the Red as he's known here on EnWorld. He hasn't posted in 2 years and I'm wondering if anyone has heard from him. The website for his busines, Pencil Pushers Publishing, is no longer active.
I worked closely with Randy editing the "Under the Dragon's Banner" netbook and I'd love to...
1. Does Detect Magic have a duration? If so, what is it?
2. How does the Stirge "blood drain" actually work? As written, does it mean death in three rounds if the stirge is not dislodged?
Thanks in advance for clarification on these questions.
I love the idea. I've always hated Barbarian as a class. You can go a step further by saying that almost anything outside of the "core" classes can be created using background and theme. How about Illusionist or any specialized mage as a theme? Certainly Paladin can be a theme, as we see...
Not only am I pessimistic about the MMO, I'd be willing to put money on the game never even reaching the market. They had to have a Kickstarter to fund a tech demo, for cryin' out loud. I do hope I'm wrong, of course, as I'd love to play the game. Here's hoping I eat my words.
Wow, KT, your expectations are pretty high. You must never play an MMO (and if you don't, I don't blame you) or use Ticketmaster. The playtest material is there, as they promised, it's only the "interwebs" that is bottlenecking everything.
The Seattle Center is currently building a very impressive Chihuly Museum.

Should be done this summer, I believe.
I'm right there with you, bud. It's funny, my expectations of 5E are: Can I make it play like 1E? If not, I'll stick with 1E.
I'm really hoping that the modular aspect of 5E will let me play my 1E with the elegance of a later edition, but maintain the feel of 1E. Is it possible? I hope so.
Tonight's episode took a major turn away from the narrative of the book, but as long as it remains fun to watch, I have faith in the producers. GoT has so much detail, they have to condense and cut. It does seem like the story is dragging a bit this season. So much build up so far with little...
I used the "declare action" pretty strictly for a while on my new 1st ed campaign, but found that it bogged down action, we kept forgetting to do it, and it annoyed the players. After we dropped it, the players were happier and combat flowed more smoothly.
I'm currently on a "classics" kick and so I'm reading Faulkner's The Sound and the Fury. I just finished the first chapter, which is told from the point of view of a mentally challenged character. It was quite disjointed and confusing, so I'm looking forward to the next chapter, told from...
