NPC Healing - cost per point

The vigors are cleric spells. And, as an NPC, why not assume the cleric MADE the wand of lesser vigor, and 15 gp a charge IS his profit? To the original question, I'd say 1 gp/point, based on the cost to have a 1st level lesser vigor cast (11 pts, 10 gp). Much past that, and there's no point...

    Weakening Touch and Escalating Enfeeblement

In the game I currently run, the PC monk and wizard have started using this combo at every opportunity. Weakening Touch, from Complete Warrior, is an alternate Stunning Fist effect that deals no damage but imposes at -6 penalty to Strength with no save. Escalating Enfeeblement is from Complete...

200 gnomes, in a boat, no wind. Help.

Hmmm... Are these gnomes stock gnome warrior 1, or some other default, or a mix? Depending on the Charisma scores of these gnomes, you may have up to 200 prestigitations, 200 ghost sounds, and 200 dancing lights to work with. Each prestigitation can be used to a minor effect, but with 200 at...

DR in PHB II - examples of backwards or limited use?

DR's ability to be bypassed is a bug, not a feature. That is to say, the Invest Protection designer (ingame) didn't sit around and say "You know what would be great? If demons and devils could still hurt me after I cast this spell!" It just follows as a necessary consequence of means by which...

    Chill Touch with Arcane Channeling

I disagree, and think that he absolutely would. The first attack is channelled through the weapon, and subsequent attacks would be regular unarmed touch attacks. A simple house rule allows arcane channelling those attacks as well, and is in effect in a game I play in. -- gnfnrf

    Little Known Rules of D&D

    Is this fair?

Not only is it fair, but it isn't even a house rule. Don't despise WotC for allowing evil characters, because they didn't. From the 3.5 PHB, p. 105 Now, in many games, this rule (more of a guideline, really) is ignored, and that works. And in some WotC products, ways to play the game...

    Touch of Idiocy

No. Touch of Idiocy applies a penalty, and multiple penalties from the same source do not stack. -- gnfnrf

What are you kaorti experiences in game play?

I ran a kaorti wizard mounted on a skybleeder against my party a few years ago... they killed the wizard with area of effect spells before noticing he was there. -- gnfnrf

    Non-random Crusader?

Well, presuming that the crusader is balanced as written (which I happen to agree with), any system that removes the randomness from their maneuver selection must compensate for the increase in power by decreasing power somewhere else. Note: I'll be using the card metaphor to explain these...

    Metabreath Draconic Breath?

That isn't what the feat says on p. 102. -- gnfnrf

    Metabreath Draconic Breath?

As written, no. Metabreath feats require a recharge time measured in rounds. Draconic Breath does not have this. Adding spell levels isn't an unreasonable way to apply them, as a houserule, though it might warrant further consideration. -- gnfnrf

more custom magic item price inquiries

Yes. However, magic item pricing is an art, not a science. For an item of mobility, there are two ways to price it. First, treat it as a conditional dodge bonus to AC on an item. Ignoring for the moment that items are never supposed to grant dodge bonuses to AC, this is an "other" bonus type...

D&D 4E What Will The First 4e Computer Game Be?

Well, I know a game designer who worked on NWN2 and swore loudly when the announcement went public ("We have to redo the engine AGAIN!?!?"), so, if someone has been developing a game early, it wasn't them. -- gnfnrf

Do you think the ___ Orb line of spells are too powerful?

Right. And that is what the oodles of math I did is for. Figuring out which spell is optimal, given the situation. You don't need line of sight to the target point for a fireball or lightning bolt, just line of effect. In fact, area of effect spells are spectacularly better in these...
