    D&D 3E/3.5 I love 3E. I love 4E. I'm mad!

I, also, enjoy 3.5. It's a great game. But that doesn't mean I don't have to spend the time to houserule things that I see as problems. There's a lot that can be done to make it a better game. 4e claims to address almost every issue I have with 3.5, while still being D&D. For that reason, I...

D&D 5E What will be the next major preview from Bill Salvesick?

I think that or something along the lines of a class is a good guess. Something to show off a specific class: I'll put my money on that.

If the devils are how monsters will be....I am so happy

I'm inclined to agree. I'm not at all intimidated by the "small" numbers as compared to 3.5. I think the system has been worked out so that one shots from a single monster killing someone is going to be rare, if at all possible. I love the fact that monsters don't have feats. No cross...

DMG & MM: Players Stay Out?

This looks like what they're doing with 4e. http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=products/dndacc/217367200 It even has magic items, which means players can make "wish lists" without getting into the DMG. I'm very strict about meta-gaming. I will flat out tell a meta-gamer that his...

Should rings be able to function for low level characters?

I think it helps make rings higher level items with better abilities. In 3e Forge Ring's prerequisite was caster level 12th. I think making that 'rule' helps emphasize the power of magical rings. And the "flavor" of the poll is completely one-sided.

WotC: Souldn't Magic Items Be Classified By Function?

This is how I see it. In fact, they have said all items of a certain level cost the same price, and that's their balancing factor. This is what it looks like 4e uses: Each Magic item has a level. All items of a given level cost the same amount. Magic item's abilities are assigned a level. The...

    Critical Hits: What's Best?

I'm all behind the 4e critical mechanic because it gets rid of the mentality of the 3rd edition is trying to take a crit away from you. Rolling a critical threat is not a critical, it's part one of determining whether a hit is a critical. By having a threat range and confirmation in 3rd...

    Magic missile

Rejoice at the fact that they are reworking the math of D&D to be fun and exciting at all levels, as opposed to sticking to sacred cows that don't necessarily need to be there. The way it gets the damage isn't important to me. The effect of the spell does.
