I think a knowledge list is unnecessary. It should be what ever the player wants. Knowledge (???) should be discussed with the DM and the DM needs to let every one know the limits of that knowledge.

Tactically: Ensure that they come from all directions. This will minimize the turning effects. Also keep them spread out and in multiple waves. Maybe even add several blind kobalds to occupy the fighters so that they can not rush up to the skeletons.
