    'Origin' of Your User Name

I got scarymonkey from some old episode of Space Ghost Coast to Coast. He said something like "Are you a nice monkey or a scary monkey? " Oh well, it was funny at the time. I guess you had to be there. I have also used that nickname for years while playing too much Starcraft on battlenet.

Re: 2003 resoulotions I would love to see that too. Ral Partha made the best D&D minis by far.

    Weirdness at the Dollar store

No, I don't think the toy was meant to represent one of these. It looked just like the picture in the monster manual. It had the weird tail and attenna. As far as I know, no dinosaurs or early mammal had attenna. Its just wierd. I will try to find it again so I can get a picture of it.

What module would you use to start a campaign?

Orc Fest by FFE. I just got finished reading thru it and it's really an excellent module to start out with.

    WOTC Resolutions for 2003

Re: Re: WOTC Resolutions for 2003 GW can make this work simply because their miniatures games are much more profitable than rpgs can ever hope to be. Why is this so? Simple math. Say that you have an rpg group of 6 people. Of those 6 guys, only 1 is a DM. He will spend far more on D&D...

    WOTC Resolutions for 2003

Aaahh, eTools! That's something else I was trying to remember when I was scrawling this so early this morning. I recently got a look at this so called program and man does it suck. I glad I didn't pay for it. :D I went back to the free version from the phb. That should be another WOTC...

    WOTC Resolutions for 2003

I'm aware of that but I still think that they will get out of the mini business soon.

    WOTC Resolutions for 2003

    1. Get out of the retail business. WOTC is not a retail company. What in the world made them think that this was a good idea? Hell, most game stores I know of are run as a labor of love. They certainly aren't profitable. Apparently they thought that if GW could do it, so could they. GW...

    wizard/sorceror

Hmmm... good answers all, thanks. A couple of points to clear up- My character is a human and so does not suffer any penalty for doing the sorceror multiclass. Also, I would probably only take the one level in it just for the huge boost in low level casting ability. It would also give me a...

    wizard/sorceror

Is this any big reason why I wouldn't want to multiclass my wizard to a wizard/sorceror at 2nd level? Look at all the 1st level spells I could cast! With my int of 14 and cha of 14, I can cast 7 1st lvl spells per day! Good gawd, the POWER!!! uh, ahem, anyway what would be the downside to...

    Monster Recruiting?

But what if the bad guy isn't that powerful? I've seen many a module where a 3rd lvl mage has his own army of humanoid guards. Or how about when the goblins have bugbear or Ogres working for them. Why don't the more powerful monsters take over? That's what seems very weird to me. I've...

    Monster Recruiting?

One of the things that I have always wondered about D&D- how do all of these evil guys go about recruiting their evil monster minions? Does an Evil Wizard(tm) just go wandering off in the woods and threaten goblins until they worship him or does he put an ad in the paper (Wanted: Swordfodder...

    Weirdness at the Dollar store

Thanks for the info! Ahh, those were the days. Buying plastic monsters for a dime. The local toystore carried stacks of Avalon Hill wargames and this new game called Dungeons and Dragons.

No, I wish I would have bought it now. If I see it again, I will.

    Weirdness at the Dollar store

The other day I was killing some time at a dollar store in a local mall when I saw something very odd. In the toy section, there was a bag of plastic dinosaurs with what could only be a Rust Monster! Unless there was a dinosaur with antennae and that wierd forked tail, it was an exact replica...
