    The Teratologue is here!

Wow, who's saying that? Chris did a TON of work rebuilding all of the statblocks, especially standardizing all of the abilities to a consistent format. The dead-tree version is available at Amazon-- but I consider this a "nice to have" and not nearly the "must have" of the PDF.

    The Teratologue is here!

    1) My first child is due in about 4 weeks. So my time will be limited like never before. 2) I know that Chris is frazzled, and yet... He still has stuff he wants to release. Some stuff I cut, and some new stuff he wants to do. 3) Notwithstanding #1, I'd still like to re-release TB in 8.5x11...

    Monster Book?

I have to defer to Brad's judgment on this: with some work left to do on the cover, Christmas is unlikely; but it won't be long after that. The contents are complete, including hyperlinking the table of contents, and all of the monster entries in the index. It's not as automatic as Adobe would...

    Monster Book?

At the risk of jinxing myself, I am hoping for Christmas. I'm working on the cover now, including some "fiddly bits" regarding spine width. If there is a disaster waiting, I expect it to come from the actual print process, particularly the binding of a book that is over 1.25" thick. Hopefully...

    Overclassed Multiclassing

Thanks as usual, ValhallaGH. I'll just say this here: You can definitely trust VGH's answers on Trailblazer. Heck, I'd put his knowledge above my own (faulty) memory at this point. I should probably put him on the payroll. (If I had a payroll, that is...)

Wulf's Collected Story Hour -- FINAL UPDATE 12/25

Frequent updates at Skullkickers Comic | Skullkickers have reminded me of my yearly bump. And also, if you like Wulf's Story Hour, I can't recommend Skull*Kickers enough. You should recognize the short one. :D

    Healing and 10-minute recovery

The assumption is that the PCs are at full HP whenever it suits the DM, that they will level up whenever it suits the DM, and that they will spend and regain AP at a rate that suits the DM.

    Grim Tales and LoEG

If you find them let me know, because I don't even have a copy of my own notes anymore. For the record, I ran this twice. The first time, it was the League plus James West (of Wild Wild West) and the second time, it was the League plus Aleister Crowley.

WotC Seeks Unity with a New Edition

Terminating the right folks would actually go a long way towards demonstrating some accountability.

    Additional Magic Rule

First of all, it's your game: Do what ye will. As for myself, I find spellcasters to be powerful enough, needing little in the way of extra perks. You should be *trying* to run them out of spells-- this builds desired tension! If you're using the Rest mechanic they should never run out of...

    TRAILBLAZER - PDF Release - Discussion/Questions/Errata

As a matter of fact my copy does say "increase by 2 sizes."

    Monster Book?

I'm jammed up on the lycanthropes, the last of the SRD monsters. GlassJaw and I can't seem to come to a resolution that (in my opinion) sufficiently cuts through the crap and "Trailblazerizes" these suckers. Once that's set, the rest of that section can fall into place-- massaging the pages...

    Monster Book?

Not at all. Trailblazer is "print on demand." There is no such thing as "back stock." I think so!

    TRAILBLAZER - PDF Release - Discussion/Questions/Errata

For Elites, the effect of the template isn't really worth any additional CR. It's negligible. For Solos, clearly the changes to the monster are significant. However, I counter that the Solo changes are required to make the monster actually perform at its listed CR. Ultimately, if the players...

Trailblazer Character Sheet [v1.3] plus SRD spell list inserts

I love the character sheet. The spell sheets... HOLY WALL OF TEXT BATMAN! Reminded me of why I never use spell sheets. I'd much rather not have the mini statblock there. The R/R/R info is good; the checkbox is good; but then on the other hand I have almost all of the spells committed to...

Rote vs. Restricted [Plus a sample Trailblazered spell sheet]

The DM's judgement is paramount. I like the "blanket" rules for R/R/R and they will work in 99.9% of cases. But it's actually expected that you will need to move them around during play. For spells where you can't quite decide, you can have the first casting (slot) Rote, and second or...

A couple of options I'm curious about with Trailblazer

It's not the same amount of work if setting his skill ranks leads you down the merry path of wondering what level he is, what his BAB might be, and how many hit points he has. Which it clearly has. NPCs can do whatever they need to do to fulfill the purpose I intend for them. No, I'm...

A couple of options I'm curious about with Trailblazer

So just set a DC for, "Beat Mozart at his own game." Absolutely not. Whether the PCs can kill or protect Mozart (CP) has nothing to do with his stats. Mozart is the McGuffin. His guards might need stats; his assassins might need stats. Mozart-- not so much. With respect to the rules serving...
