D&D 5E Conjure Woodland Beings - Where is the "DM chooses the monster" clause?

I think a simple sentence like " The DM will determine exactly which creatures are summoned. " would clear up a lot.

D&D 5E Light VS Dancing Lights

I think Dancing Lights has its place in exploring. But I would want a non concentration light source on hand too which is easy enough to do.

D&D 5E Replacing Darkvision with other special senses

I don't like the idea of races having tremor sense or blind sight. There's no reason for them to be immune to stealth like that. It seems overpowered to me.

    D&D 5E Level 20 Class Competition Ideas

By telling you all the flaws in your character all that does it let you improve it. But I will give you this one for free. After you lose initiative your own bottle stops you from casting Subtle Counterspell. Nothing in the description says you can see through the smoke. If we pretend you...

    D&D 5E Level 20 Class Competition Ideas

Initiative is huge in this competition. Just giving it to someone is giving the match away with the more powerful contenders. It's like directly removing abilities from some classes if they involve them winning initiative. I don't like the idea of initiative being automatically won by either...

    D&D 5E Level 20 Class Competition Ideas

Time Stop is the main one that comes to mind.

Without winning initiative you still get wrecked pretty easily.

    D&D 5E Swashbuckler/warlock multi class

The darkness isn't as bad as people think for your own party. If the enemy is in darkness, then people attacking them have the same chance to hit as they did before. The attacker can't see the target, so they get disadvantage, but the target cannot see the attacker, so the attacker gains...

D&D 5E What Level 20 Class Would Win?

Were the actual dueling terms established yet? What distance, if any? What lighting or cover, if any? With different lighting or cover options, a hide with a bonus action character can wreck casters. My personal choice is a Firbolg lore bard with Alert and Lucky. They have a 13 initiative...

D&D 5E What Level 20 Class Would Win?

It's pretty powerful but not as powerful as Simulacrum, and about as powerful as Portent for making a creature fail their save. Yes, all three of your portent rolls could be too high but then you are probably targeting the wrong saving throw.

    D&D 5E Is 5e Darkvision A Good Design?

I actually prefer that there are darkvision options and not all just one static range. There can be more interesting tactics deployed with varying ranges.

    D&D 5E Is 5e Darkvision A Good Design?

I think darkvision is fine as it is and see no reason to change it or remove it. This includes the rules for how it works though. If you ignore the drawbacks and just let darkvision works without penalty then it may be too good. But people houseruling darkvision to not give the penalty in the...

D&D 5E Found this Homebrew and was wondering if it’s balanced.

The level 1 feature, Otherworldly Knowledge, I would change to proficiency in knowledge skills. If you are already proficient in the knowledge skill in question, then you gain expertise in said skill. I feel that is more balanced personally, especially when it comes to dipping. The Level 14...

    D&D 3E/3.5 Comparison to 3.5e

I think the only thing I liked about 3rd/3.5 was the concept of feats. 3rd/3.5 was pretty awful game design vs 5th edition. Many people equate more complicated to but it usually just slows down gameplay. Almost every round at least one of the many many many unneeded modifiers or abusive stacking...

D&D 5E Help me build the mythical first Hexblade (need the 5e mechanics veterans' help)

Personally I would have it be far more powerful then the Vestiges. It's an item that has so much power that it creates agents that are capable heroes or villians in their own right. Consider how powerful other patrons are. Demon/Devil lords, fae lords, lovecraftian horrrors. A vestige is a...

D&D 5E Banishment and swallowed creatures

What rule states that teleports include items but not other creatures? I've always run it that way but this thread made me wonder why I do so. For instance Misty Step says range is self. It doesn't say that it brings gear/belongings in any capacity even though I have always run it that way.

    D&D 5E Here's why we want a Psion class

I always disliked psionics. The power level always felt out of place to me. And most fantasy settings or movies that I think of, outside of a couple D&D, ones relate more to wizards or sorcerers ( sometimes warlocks ) but almost never psionics. So this encourages the idea to me that D&D is fine...

    D&D 5E Illusionist Question

By RAW can you create spell components with the 14th level Illusionist tradition ability? It says for 1 minute the item is real. It seems to me one could create components for spells and they would work as long as the spell was no longer then 1 minute long to cast. All I saw in the spellcasting...

D&D 5E Why did they design Demiplane to suck?

If the BBEG just cast the glyphs in one hallway of his keep and walked down the hallway wouldn't he gain the same effect? Why do you need the Demiplane? You just need contiguous space to trigger the glyphs, right? ( To set them all off in the same round I mean. )

D&D 5E Why did they design Demiplane to suck?

That's fine. The way it was worded earlier suggested to me that you needed Demiplane to do it, but you don't. It's just more convenient ( except for the spell slot for Demiplane ).
