    Railroading is bad?

This is a mater of semantics, one says "plot line" the other says "railroad"... If you were to give a player a cursed item, have it possess him and then grab his character sheet, thats just plain mean! If you are presenting options, ad-libbing encounters and pointing the players in the...

    Railroading is bad?

I agree, and I think any DM would agree with your statement. I think we're splitting hairs here though. Weather you call it railroading or plot line, a rose by any other name still smells as sweet as a rose. And all DM's are just that, "Dungeon Masters". As soon as a player says, "I'm choosing"...

    Railroading is bad?

Maybe I'm missing something, but doesn't the title of "Dungeon MASTER" entitle you with control? (or should I say "railroading".) If a DM doesn't have control, who does? How much concern do you have with PC death?

I tend to look at it as a game and everybody is there to have fun (I am niether a rules monger or a killer DM). Thats what it's about, right? Now if the player is suicidal or is role playing his death for good reason (NOT a prob).

    The Official Welcome Thread

Some call me RIP… I have been playing D&D since 1981. I remember when there was no such thing as a character sheet, let alone a character generator… I wish I had the cash I spent, on the numerous books I own, sitting in front of me. (I may be able to retire!) I tend to follow the rules from...
