    Fantasy World Economics

There's another factor in here you're missing. Some trades (whether craft or profession) require advanced learning. Hence the term 'learned trades'. any bloody fool like me can take a hammer and chisel and try to make a rectangular block of stone to set against another stone and slap some mud...

Which character generator is best-E-tools or PCgen?

3catcircus - No one software is going to be the 'end all be all' for everyone out there. All the things you state you want in a program we plan on implementing for RPG Toolkit already, so the best thing I can say here is wait for it to be released next year and wait for reviews before deciding...

Which character generator is best-E-tools or PCgen?

Funny, considering I did a vast majority of those books back at the time, that I kept them up to date back at the time. I recall about 5 or 6 people that worked on various books back at the time other than myself, not dozens, PCGen has NEVER had dozens of data volunteers. However, as Paul...

    CC2 Pro maps

Just a note here, this is an early look of the CMP Interactive Adventures project we're working on. Allyn (Darkleagues) is the artist here. This is from The Forge of Fury - The Sinkhole level of the module. a brief blurb from our Friday Update - get the full skinny there (scroll down a bit...

    Dundjinni and licensing dispute?

And I'll post along the same lines as I posted on their forums.. "So what?" The art work is their IP, they want to protect it, let them. Honestly, some of the art is great, some so-so and some I can do without. They opened the program up to be of use to 'professional cartographers' (read...

ProFantasy and Code Monkey Team Up

Perhaps eventually, but not this year. This is a pretty preliminary test run on a number of things, but once RPG Toolkit (the rewrite) is done, we will be looking into features along these lines at some point.

A bit of help with the Dragon CD-ROM archive

Gads! Where they THAT old? Gah.. showing my age (and my poor memory  )... I just remember the chessboard covers series dealt a lot with politics/intrigue... so that'd be my best guess to start looking.

A bit of help with the Dragon CD-ROM archive

I remember that article as well... vaugely. :p I think it was in the series of mags with the chessboard covers... 170-ish??

Anyone using etools 3.5e - please help

Actually, if you have 2 lines, 1 for 3.0 and 3.5, you'll be able to switch between modes using the 'Game Mode' option... We're not sure why some people are not getting this 'out of the box' and other are, we're still looking into it... once we have a fix/definitive answer, we'll post it on our...

Why's it so hard to create a character generator that rocks?

There's been some comment on 'over rides' for feat/PrC requirements. Have you even looked at the Preferences menu of PCGen? I ask because this feature is present. Yes, there are settings to disable feat/PrC requirements, to ignore max skill ranks, to ignore cross class skill points, etc...

    Dundjinni Demo Review

This is a 'Windows problem'. The java installation sometimes omits one very important detail... to include the /lib path of the java install with 'Path' of the enviornment variables... Which means this: Without that set correctly, ANY .jar file you attempt to click on will open up like a zip...

    Data Sets for d20 Software

Just remember that as long as it is the OGL content and you include the OGL for a given book, you can host any files for any book you like (The OGL is really important on this, so make sure you include it in every file!!!). Also make sure that any files you do host (if you do wind up hosting...

    Anyone playing NetHack?

Oh my god, I had SO forgotten about this game! Telengard rocked (for it's time. :p)... Did a quick search.. guess what? Someone is reworking it! Telengard Addition: I just installed this and gave it a whirl... just as cheesy as I remember it! This is awesome!

Converting PDF files to Word files

Acrobat Professional (at least 6.0 Professional does) has a "Save As" option to word format. I've never used it myself, so I can't say how well it does it.

    E-Tools Data Sets: Any thoughts?

We had some code issues that needed fixing that cropped up last minute on us, as well as WotC wanting some 'tidying up' of things for the data part of it... the 1.4.1 patch is _planned_ for release this week and 3.5 support is in it (check files--> Preferences for a surprise on that in the...

Character Generator -Which one to get?

Hal, PCGen periodically releases Production builds, about every few months. The next one is slated to be 5.6 next week sometime and is being tweaked for 3.5 rules (some minor issues remained - mostly data tweaks, but a couple code tweaks). You don't need to upgrade to the latest beta every...

    E-Tools: Anyone Sharing Custom Files?

Yes I still do feel that way, but as I noted, money and courts = time and money wasted. It was far easier to work with them than it was to fight with them, and it proved far more beneficial that way. I wasn't replying to the original poster actually... I was replying to the person who said...

    E-Tools: Anyone Sharing Custom Files?

The PCGen AU files are getting some finishing tweaks, then they go back to Sue and Monte for final review... Shouldn't be too much longer. As for AU in eTools, can't say anything at the moment, but there may be good news on the near horizon, so hang in there. :)

    E-Tools: Anyone Sharing Custom Files?

First off, you're mixing a few things that don't relate. 1) PCGen data files at the time (of WotC's materials) were under Fair Use from PCGen's perspective (as well as our lawyers). WotC disagreed, and instead of fighting it out in court (as noted many times, fighting WotC on anything is...
