Paladin + Monk + Druid + Sorcerer: a good party?

Eeew, yuck...you got your Fighter in my Druid soup. While others certainly don't share my opinion, I myself would never play that multiclassing mess. I could perhaps see the rogue/monk, but the others I wouldn't touch with a 10.1 foot pole. Sorceror/Bard? Do you want to ever get spells? And...

    Are CRPGs really role-playing games?

And if I'm not mistaken, that's a logical fallacy. :)

    Are CRPGs really role-playing games?

I think you are going a little bit overboard with these logical fallacies, but... So if a "simulation" of a role-playing game can be itself a role-playing game, what relevance does labeling CRPGs have on whether they are role-playing games?

    Are CRPGs really role-playing games?

RC, are applications such as Maptool, Fantasy Grounds and OpenRPG then not RPGs either, since they try to, as you put it, simulate the experience of table-top D&D?

    Are CRPGs really role-playing games?

Did you ever play that stupid "Paths of the Dead" level on EA's Return of the King, because by your definition, that would definitely qualify as an RPG. :D

    I Googled D&D in Images...

    I've got a D&D Meats just a stone's throw away (if you're a giant, that is).

What's the Best RPG Bargain You've Ever Gotten?

A friend gave me nearly every 3.X D&D and Forgotten Realms product printed up through 2005 after he decided he had moved beyond the hobby. 40+ books in all. Pity, because he was an amazing player, but it was a good deal nonetheless.

    Wizard Alternate Class Features

If he were playing RHoD, I could certainly see this being the case. Even if "8 hours of downtime" is slightly hyperbolic, there certainly isn't time in the module to regularly engage in item crafting, even if it is only scrolls. For any adventure with a premise similar to hit-and-run against a...

Dungeons & Dragons: Is anything essential?

I think D&D is in desperate need of a focus. 3E started with one, but since has been taken in so many directions it is difficult to sort through the mess. The smorgasborg of classes, feats, prestige classes etc. were IMO, definitely not what the developers originally intended with the rules...

    Legend of Zelda

There are far too many grammar and convention mistakes for me to even consider doing more than a cursory analysis. Clean up, and maybe I'll come back to take another look.

Best Druid Build - Core Rules + PrC's

Spell Focus (Conjuration) and Augment Summoning from the PHB are a good place to start for a summoning Druid.

Need help picking a system for my campaign!

Star Wars SAGA. Strip away everything but the mechanics (Or just re-tool the flavor), and you have a decent system for representing a pulping, high-action feel. Edit: Oh, and I don't know about you, but to me... "sci-fi western with mystical undercurrents" "desert planet" "monsters and...

Star Wars Saga RPG: Square Book? WTF

I never quite understood this argument. How is page count in any way a reflection of the quality/value of the product. If the designers had simply added one-hundred pages of stills from the movie, would any extra content actually be added? If I deleted all instances of repeated content in the...

Star Wars Saga, the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Interesting. Most of the attributes you found "bad" I felt were strengths of the product. Originally skeptical of the square size, I soon came to see it as a distinct improvement over previous RPG products. If there ever was a sacred cow of D&D, here it stands. Hands down, the square format...

    Familiar Replacement

Is there anywhere I could find either the whole article, or at minimum, a summary? I'm interested in seeing how the mechanics play out, but do not have the financial means at the moment to acquire a back issue of Dragon.

    Alternate 5-foot Step Rules

I think, unless properly trained, it should be suicide to fight an enemy twice as large as you toe-to-toe. If you are also of this mindset, I think this rule fits that idea very nicely. Like another poster pointed out, I visualize it a la' the Cave Troll scene in LotR. Any of the heroes would...

Playing a wizard at low levels

Uh oh, looks like I've unintentionally been screwing my players. It kind of balances out, in a sense, because I've also learned from this thread that sleep has a casting time of 1 round (And not 1 standard action).

Playing a wizard at low levels

Except, if I recall correctly, it has a duration of 1 round, so before an enemy even realizes it's there, it's gone again.

    Str and Sport!

See, the thing is, with 11 ranks in swim, he IS the professional athlete. If I had to bet on a sprint race (Which the OP's challenge undeniably was), I would surely go with the buff, muscular guy who swims for a living over the lithe, dexterous guy who also swims for a living. I'm glad the...
