Elon Musk Calls for Wizards of the Coast to "Burn in Hell" Over Making of Original D&D Passages

Approximately 80% of communication is non-verbal. If it's not that, it's something close. What makes us so certain it isn't a joke or a tongue -in-cheek comment? What gives WotC the right to make the ultimate decision on the intent? A lot of people in the comments section seem to think "if I...

Elon Musk Calls for Wizards of the Coast to "Burn in Hell" Over Making of Original D&D Passages

At some point we have to examine the motive and the moral authority of the current publisher: who apparently feels they can pass judgement (without having bothered to even interview the people that were present at the time, according to Kuntz). "Let those who are without sin cast the first...

Elon Musk Calls for Wizards of the Coast to "Burn in Hell" Over Making of Original D&D Passages

I mean if I said you did something reprehensible deliberately, then it does sound like I'm accusing you of it. I don't see a difference. The same meaning is implied, the fact that they're using passive voice doesn't change the meaning.

Elon Musk Calls for Wizards of the Coast to "Burn in Hell" Over Making of Original D&D Passages

I think it's very likely that they published these "caveats" for the reason you cited. If that's the case, it makes it even worse to attack the character and legacy of Gygax in that way: it makes it morally bankrupt and I would argue, cowardly.

Elon Musk Calls for Wizards of the Coast to "Burn in Hell" Over Making of Original D&D Passages

If only people would choose to reflect on their own behaviour with one tenth of the level of scrutiny they dedicate to making a holistic moral judgement (on the basis of a couple of quotes) for someone who is not only absent, but also deceased (and therefore can't defend their record). But I...

D&D 5E Player consent required -spoilers for new adv book

Question - how would you feel if someone was offended by your sentence because they were offended, they would have appreciated it if you had issued a content warning before mentioning it. Ok. Now take that, and change it slightly. Now that person is not offended. However, they are suggesting...

D&D 5E Player consent required -spoilers for new adv book

That was probably the most valuable post for me. For all the talk about caring, and being sensitive to others, many people seemed uninterested in paying heed to the above account. Or, you know, people's actual experiences with trauma. Your friend getting offended about something you said is...

(+)Do Any TTRPGs Do Dueling Really Well?

The games Atomoctba is refering to have adopted the TROSlikes moniker. Besides Song of Swords, two other TROSlikes I am aware of are: - Sword & Scoundrel (Beta) the comments section suggest this may be the best option out of the other TROSlikes (which i think broadly have the features you're...

New 13th Age 'Escalation Edition' Coming Next Year!

I'm delighted, i feel they made amends in correcting a terrible mistake. I read the tweet, can't see why people took exception to it. Anyone who has an inkling about Tweet knows that it's ludicrous to suggest he's racist.

D&D 5E Mythological Figures: Alexander the Great

One thing worth mentioning is that this phrase had a double meaning. The obvious one was that Alexander should stop obscuring the sun. The second one is something like "lead me out of darkness/oblivion - show me the truth". (Although not a direct translation, the pun sort of works with a slight...

The Black Hack Boxed Set Offers (Almost) Everything You Need For An Excellent Hexcrawl

I was a KS backer for the second edition boxed set. The offering in this one is different, making it a boxed set V2. For the KS, at £75 (including shipping) i got PDFs, dice and additinal copies of the rules. This one would cost me a fraction of the price including shipping (£42) and it would...

    Luke Crane Resigns From Kickstarter

It was more a rhetorical question, i didn't intent to put you on the spot. As someone once said, questions are free, answers are a different matter. I appreciate that you don't have enough info to make a conclusion. In my mind, this is an example of someone being impacted by an online campaign...

    Luke Crane Resigns From Kickstarter

You see, it's easy to discuss these things and say "sometimes things happen" when it affects other people, but cancel culture does have an impact on people, their reputations and their livelihoods. This is why i feel that oversimplifications like "it's just a matter of a quick google and then...

If you decide to give a genuine apology, we can then talk about risks.

    Luke Crane Resigns From Kickstarter

I would have given the same answers as yours on most, if not all, points. And the last one too. But if you do all that, it doesn't mean you get to escape the outrage mob. I have an additional question for you, and everyone else who is genuinely interested in that question, regardless of whether...

    Luke Crane Resigns From Kickstarter

If anyone goes back and reads what i said, they will see that i explicitly stated that i'm not defending this behaviour, and that there were a lot of factors at play. I do however see this lynch mob mentality in the rpg community, and i think it's something very negative that needs to be...

I feel you're misconstruing what i'm saying in bad faith, and find you a bit rude to be frank.

That was in fact my point. There isn't one rule that fits all in these situations, and we shouldn't pretend otherwise.
