    White Plume Mountain

Anyone know of a conversion for this adventure (either the original or the Return To version)? Specifically, I'm wondering if anyone has worked out rules for moving through the big cavern with the hanging disks ("Past water spouts where chain links rattle") because I'm having a bit of trouble...

    Help! Classic module questions

The original Ravenloft adventure (I6) was for characters of levels 5 to 7, according to the cover. It was rewritten and re-released some years later as a 2nd edition module (maybe called House of Strahd??? Or did they still call it Ravenloft, I'm not certain) and it was upgraded to be aimed at...

    Campaign Cartographer/Fractal Terrains

Thanks for the advice, Max. Honestly, I've never joined a group like that before so I didn't know it would let me NOT receive hundreds of e-mails a day... Your listing of options was just what I needed.

    Campaign Cartographer/Fractal Terrains

I'm finally sitting down to learn to use Campaign Cartographer, and after running through the tutorials, I've started with a world created using Fractal Terrains, then exported to Campaign Cartographer and editing from there. So far, everything's going pretty well, but when I try to add cities...

    Fake Fantasy Setting Proposals

I'm really hoping that Monte will submit his incredibly complex setting, "Orc and Pie." It has all the classic D&D elements, it can be clearly described on a single page, and I think it could win. The proposal could be something like this (Monte, if you see this, feel free to take my words for...

    metamagics and item pricing

If you have a metamagic feat that raises the spell level slot required, then the cost of the item increases accordingly. For example, a scroll of Burning Hands would normally cost 1*1*25gp to create, but if it were done with the Enlarge Spell feat (which requires using a spell slot one level...

    City question

I would say that your city can be much larger than Rome was during the Roman Empire days. After all, Rome was limited to a very low tech base, whereas your capitol city has access to all the benefits that can come from powerful magic. If anything, I would recommend basing your city's size on...

    Psions are Broken

In our current campaign, I'm playing a Cleric7/PsyWarrior2/SacredExorcist2. I took the PsyWarrior levels near the very beginning, knowing I'd only take a couple of levels. We had already removed the Psychic Combat from the rules because of the inequity of Psionic Monsters having effectively...

    [Funny] Alternating gender pronouns

As a female gamer, I appreciate the fact that WotC has tried hard to be more inclusive of females by alternating male and female pronouns. But now they've gone too far. When you get a chance, take a look at the "Brightstone Keep" sidebars in Chapter 1 of the new Stronghold Builder's Guidebook...

I want to see MORE ads!

Morrus, this may be a weird question, but is there any sort of page where someone can go to browse through the current ads? Sometimes I click on a link, and just as the page updates, I notice the ad across the top of the page I'm reading, and I think, "I'd really like to read that." But the...

    In the dragon's mouth

Actually, there's an official answer to this one at the WotC site, in their "Gamestoppers" feature. They say that no, a swallowed rogue does not get to do sneak attacks. Here's the link: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/article.asp?x=dnd/gs/gs20020217a

publishers, etc: what i'd love to see

I'll vote in favor of that one. Although it would need to discuss how to resolve specific rules issues in those settings, I'd rather see the main focus be on how to design adventures for those sorts of settings. For example, the "cities" version should talk about how to create murder mysteries...

How much does a Kobold weigh?

I just weighed our family kobold and he weighs 25 pounds, but he's a bit overweight and we're putting him on a diet, so you might want to round that down... (Oh, wait, that was the family dog, not a kobold after all, so never mind.)

    Blasted ROLE-PLAYERS!!!

If all you do is kill off their characters, then there's no hope they'll ever learn any better. (Not that it sounds like there's much hope in any case, but I'm an eternal optimist...) I recommend asking your DM to let you have skill in Craft (Trapmaking) and possibly the ability to make (and...

    Worship and D&DG

Staffan - In answer to your question, there are several pages in the first chapter where the book explores why mortals bother to worship deities, and in turn, what gods get out of it and why they bother to "use" mortals. The book doesn't give an absolute answer on these questions, though...

Deities & Demigods vs Faiths & Pantheons

I had basically decided that I was going to wait until both books came out, so I could compare them and see how much overlap there is, before buying either. With the prices in the $40 to $50 range for both books, that really discourages me from getting both. Sad thing is, if they'd both been...

    Broken Links etc

I copied out some of the prestige classes, including the Blind Assassin, a few months back. If you've made changes since then, it might not be up-to-date, but I can certainly send it to you if you can't access it any more. Send me an e-mail at CintraBristol@comcast.net if you need it (or any...

    Forge of Fury: Question **Spoiler**

The group I DM'ed actually managed to do everything else in the adventure before they ever found the roper, so they were already 5th level. Even so, they had it rough. The sorcerer got STR-drained to 0 in the first round, and the others managed to cut him free and retreat - past the roper and...
