    How are Superhero games different?

Currently, M&M 3rd edition is the licensed system for DC Heroes, so every character from the DC universe should already be statted out for M&M. The M&M 2nd ed book Instant Superheroes is full of archetypes that more-or-less cover the rest (and also some of the DC characters, only all at PL 10)...

Ryan dancey hints that DnD will become a board game....

    You mean, something like THIS?

    How are Superhero games different?

I'm curious how you would handle task resolution in a game that used dice at all without either a target number or number of successes. Why use the dice at all? See how far you can throw it? Even though d%/5 ~ d20, neither = XdY. Bell shaped curves mean non-linear values for a simple "+1"...

    How are Superhero games different?

Any point-buy system is superficially the same as nearly any other, but saying "roll a die, beat a number" means two games are the same mechanically is pure insanity. Really now, Shadowrun and Savage Worlds could both fall under that broad category, but they are nowhere near the same...

Ryan dancey hints that DnD will become a board game....

Like that's ever stopped them before. Not aimed at anyone in particular, but I swear, some people would buy a cowpatty if it came in a pretty box that said "Dungeons and Dragons" on the lid.

    Lego Heroica - and further?

I'd go Heroscape or Pathfinder Beginner Box. Or both.

What's the wildest D&D story you've ever heard?

Then you wait until they aren't in an open space with clear line of sight! Duh! (They gotta take a dump sometime, unless they don't eat, breathe or sleep....)

What's the wildest D&D story you've ever heard?

Using a Helm of Teleportation to get a backstab is SO bush-league. Every REAL assassin knows you use oil of etherealness. Actually, two oils, one for you and one for your Stoneskin-triggering apprentice.

What's the wildest D&D story you've ever heard?

AND the user didn't need to eat, sleep or breathe! (Inside joke in referrence to those properties being tacked on to tons of items from the 2nd ed Forgotten Realms, almost as an afterthought.) This thread reminded me of another one. Some guy at a con playing 1st ed AD&D knew just enough about...

What's the most you've ever spent on a single RPG-related item?

This website has a picture of a set. These are NOT my dice, but the other set. These came from a different meteor, and mine have only been out of the glass case once since I got them. I can post a pic of mine if you like, but I have to get my copies of "Dirty Jokes and Beer", "Samurai Cat" and...

What's the wildest D&D story you've ever heard?

You too eh? I swear, I am a freak-magnet. If I'm browsing any RPG material in a store, someone will walk right up to me, stand a little to close to me, breathe like a pervert on an obscene phone call for 5 minutes while staring right at me (as I flee to my happy place and try to pretend they...

What's the most you've ever spent on a single RPG-related item?

I'm away from home just now, but as I recall, the certificate they came with says they are from "Pomba B" from a Peruvian impact, IIRC. I also believe that there were only 2 full sets of meteorite dice made, and they were auctioned off and never sold publicly. A handfull of d6s and d20s were...

What's the most you've ever spent on a single RPG-related item?

I too have a massive collection of several rpgs dating back over 30 years, but the single most expensive item has to be my engangement gift from my wife: a complete set of polyhedron dice made from meteorite from Crystal Caste. I think she dropped somewhere around $600-$700 on eBay for them.

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Online MMORPG Announced

On the one hand, I'm very excited to see Paizo expanding the brand footprint like this. Nothing says a tabletop RPG has hit the bigtime like a major computer game release. Making it an MMO is just x10. On the other hand, I've seen lots of good MMOs not just tank, but face-first nosedive into...

New Sci-Fantasy RPG from Joshua Frost

Judging by the ammount of money he's got pledged already (over 70% in less than a week), I'd say this is definately going to happen. I liked how at a certain donation threshold JJF would personally fly to your house with a signed batch of hardbacks, run a multi-hour session for you to teach you...

Announcing the ENnie Awards New Logo Contest!

Wow, and I thought the international concensus was that Americans were rude?? 1) The ENies are about more than D&D, obviously; 2) Not only do Americans living outside of Indiana go to Gen Con, but in fact, people from all over the world attend; 3) Your post implies that only non-Americans have...

    "Oh god what is that!"

In my old Scarred Lands game, I had an NPC contact get mauled publicly (by the fountain of the city's main plaza, albeit at night) by an ivisible stalker with the far realm spawn and mist creature templates. Something invisible and (unseeable with magic) made of mist with dozens of tentacles...

Yeah..... So, um, congrats to all the winners? Yay?
