D&D 4E at Games Plus this Weekend!

Looks great! Very good back story. Don't forget magic items. You get one 4th level, one 3rd level, one 2nd level and 520 gp to spend on magic items, potions or other equipment.

D&D 4E at Games Plus this Weekend!

No sir. It is outside the auspices of the RPGA. It does not require RPGA legal characters. Look forward to talking with you Sunday Thalmin!

D&D 4E at Games Plus this Weekend!

Nope. Even feel free to use the playtest classes from DDI. The adventure is a dungeon crawl through the ruins of castle near a coastal city. The setting is my own (very slightly) tweaked version of the default POL setting from the DMG.

Feel free to bring your own 3rd-level character or just use one of the pregens I will be bringing. I will try and post the pregens on my blog by Friday sometime...

D&D 4E at Games Plus this Weekend!

I am going to be running a one-shot 4th Edition D&D game at 2:00 PM this Sunday (February 22nd) at Games Plus in Mount Prospect, IL. The format is a 'delve style' adventure for a party of 3rd-level characters. I can run multiple sessions if I get a big group. I will have six pregens available...

Chicago Gameday XXII Planning Thread; our date is March 21st

I came by the last Chicago Gameday but did not play. This will be my first one to actually run a game in. I am a DM with lots of experience (25+ years) though and I'm having lots of fun with 4E. I just want to run a light-hearted event and I didn't know if I could do so under the auspices of...

    Wizards Website Survey

Has anyone else been prompted to complete a survey when visiting the Wizards website? I completed one yesterday. I wish I had copied off the quesstions. I was particularly amused by the one about whether or not I 'trusted Wizards to deliver digital content in a timely manner' or something...

    Hasbro 4th Quarter Report

Did anyone else read the transcript of the Hasbro Q4 report? I was trying to gleen any info about WotC, but I couldn't find much. That was some mention of DDI and something about constraining 'incremental spending' but that was about it. If you did read it or even listen to the conference...

What makes a good campaign world?

Good points here! I have just started a news series on my blog where I am designing a campaign setting from scratch. I will definitely take these points into account.

Gazetteer of Known Realms - Where is Morrain?

I just downloaded the Gazetteer of the Known Realms and I am trying to locate the map for the Kingdom of Morrain. Does anyone know which map it is on? I hate to click through 25 maps - urggh.

Manual of the Planes: The Evolution of Rules Complexity

BINGO. That's a perfect way to put it. In the olden days, you ever prepped and ignored or suffered the consequences. It's almost a version of a save-or-die mechanic. I don't think that a system that depends heavily on the ability of players to memorize the rules for prepping and dealing with...

Manual of the Planes: The Evolution of Rules Complexity

I can certainly sympathize with that view and many of the older guys that I play with would certainly agree. Their idea of 'mastering' the game involves knowing that they should pack their Helm of Kick-Ass Intellect or whatever when they go Astral so they can move at lightspeed... However, as...

Halls of the Giant Kings (Dungeon Tiles DU1): Worth buying? A good "starter" set?

If you are looking for a pretty generic set, make sure to check out DT6: Dire Tombs. Other than the tiles having a yellow/brownish cast that most other sets don't, the tiles are pretty useful and I like the angled corridors.

Manual of the Planes: The Evolution of Rules Complexity

I guess I was speaking more about 4E vs. 1E rather than 4E vs. 3E in terms of complexity...

Manual of the Planes: The Evolution of Rules Complexity

I am going to post the following on my blog as well, but since it is not exactly widely read (yet) I decided to post it here as well so a few more eyes would see it... I often hear the cry from D&D grognards that the new versions of the game are 'too complex' or have 'too many rules'. The game...

    Ruthless Ruffian Question

Cool. That's what I thought but I wanted to be sure. The authors could have worded the class feature a little more clearly though...:-S
