D&D 5E Player knowledge and Character knowledge

There's obviously no need for a poll. But, in the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king. And everyone else is all blind, of course.

D&D 5E where you're going to die in CoS (spoilers)

This is key. I start the game by telling the players that this isn't a paint-by-numbers adventure path, it's a sandbox where you can easily get in over your head, so be careful. After that, I'm not killing anyone, they're the ones taking the risk, it's all on them.

    The surprise round and you

I think the rule is the way it is to protect the PCs from an attack by a hidden enemy outside of combat when the opposite situation happens, more than screw with the rogue. That said, if you want to make the assassin rogue the exception to the rule, that seems like a fun option that I wouldn't...

D&D 5E Brief Thoughts on Traps and Player Agency

Not just you. Putting that kind of time pressure on the player while being very vague about what's happening feels very "gotcha"-y to me. Which is odd, Angry hates "gotcha" monsters, like mimics, rust monsters, etc. Randomly picking a response, with little to no info and no time to think...

D&D 5E noob questions: sneak attack, firing into melee and opportunity attacks

There's something to be said for this. Anecdotally, one of the memories often brought up in our game group from our first campaign playing 3e, the ranger's pet mountain lion got shot in the butt by wizard and his crossbow. That said, I prefer the cover penalty rule. Combat is swingy enough...

D&D 5E Curse of Strahd spoiler-filled general discussion

QFT. This is why there's dice in the game, the great unknown. Different strokes, and all, so I wouldn't "recommend" it so much as just say that's the way I want to do it.

    D&D 5E What will 5E D&D be remembered for?

I'll always remember it fondly as my current D&D game.

D&D 5E We need a Monster Manual II

Isn't this the point of the DMs Guild?

    Minsc & Boo In Ravenloft?

The question is, will this just be a 5-issue arc again, or an ongoing?

    HEROLAB'S 5E Update Is Here!

Yeah, there's a bit of a learning curve to the coding, but it's not tough to figure out, and once you do, it's pretty easy. But I get not wanting to have to do that. I personally hate making maps for games, but some people like doing that. Different strokes, and all.

TABLETOP Season 4 To Feature LANTERNS and CODE NAMES

Codenames is a great game to play, not sure about watching people play it, though. He'll need some extra entertaining guests for that one.

D&D 5E Have you bought any (non DM's Guild] 3rd party 5E products?

Primeval Thule and Lost Lands. Haven't done much more than look through the DM's Guild.

D&D 5E Adventures - Levels and page count

I thought the Pathfinder Adventures were put to pasture in favor of Adventure Paths a while back. Are they making short adventures again?

D&D 5E Adventures - Levels and page count

Plus, the meat is 4-10, the 1-3 part is a "starter adventure".

CURSE OF STRAHD: Here's The Official Announcement & Cover Image!

In the original, you searched for a couple mcguffins (Holy Symbol and Sunsword) in order to have a chance to defeat Strahd. My guess is this may be replicated, while he'll be a tough fight normally, there will be items to be found that make the encounter easier.

Which D&D Settings Do You Play In?

I'm prepping my next game to be in Primeval Thule. Surprised it's not on the list, it being one of the handful of settings with a 5e sourcebook....

D&D Increases Its Lead In Orr Groups Q3 2015 Report

You could look at number of times players have logged into any one game, but otherwise, it'd be like asking your table (not the people at the table, the actual table) in your face-to-face game if you're done your game yet. Roll20 is just a tool.

Yeah, I guess. But the games stat is still interesting.

D&D Increases Its Lead In Orr Groups Q3 2015 Report

Actually, the number of players for each game comes from what people mark in their profile under "Enjoys Playing", not what they are currently playing. So similar numbers for both 3.5 and Pathfinder makes sense.
