Fixed Shellie's name. They are two of the best people I know and they are gonna make awesome parents. I'm very happy for them and look forward to meeting the little one soon.

(ooc: how is the detect evil going? I want to scan everybody present)

I like to start at 1st and grow a character organically, but with the caveat that I also like to get to the high levels. So it kind of depends on the length and scope of the campaign. Also, for one shot or short series games, I've got no problems building at any old level.

In one of my groups (with the Jester as DM), the players take combat notes. We also recently started up player-scribed roleplaying notes as well. There is an xp bonus for doing so. As far as how much detail gets written, that varies quite a bit.

(ooc: i'm back) From a ways back (20' or so), Scun stands and casts Detect Evil and then begins scanning the crowd.

I'm a fan of the decanter - it's a great utility item. My favorite use for it was in a high level game. We needed to travel through some molten lava for quite a distance, and we could cover the immunity to fire, but water breathing wasn't going to work. Since I had already cast water...
