For those who don't play D&D (or its clones), what keeps you engaged with EN World?

Since I stopped gaming actively I’ve found I’ve been dropping in here less and less, and the frequency with which I post anything has dropped even further. It’s mostly just curiosity at this point – both in terms of RPG news (where ENWorld has been my go-to site for decades, and will remain so...

What Show Should Have Only Had One Season?

As the OP says, Heroes is the obvious choice. I'm inclined to suggest 24. Although that first season isn't the only good season, none of the others really reach the same heights (actually, even the latter half of the first season don't live up to the first 13 episodes). Plus, as they went on it...

    OGL, ORC, CC or?...

At this point I think the OGL is essentially poisoned, unfortunately, so I wouldn't bother with that one. Either, or both, of the other two seem good options.

What Do YOU Want The Future of TTRPGs To Look Like?

I prefer to play face to face and with as little technology at the table as possible. Online play is okay in a pinch, but I spend too much time in video calls to ever love it. Away from the table, I'm happy to use any and all tools available. I don't really care what games are popular or how...

D&D 5E Most Used 5E Rule Book (Besides Core Books)?

For me it's monster books, with 3rd party stuff actually taking the lead over WotC - the various "Tome of Beasts" volumes and the "Monster Manual Expanded" books. (If it's relevant: I've only used the 2014 ruleset. I don't currently intend to update to 2024, but if/when I did I'd probably then...

What makes a TTRPG purchase "worth it" to you?

If I actually make reasonable use of it, it's worth it. For one of the big $50 hardback books, that means it needs to see regular use for most or all of a campaign. For a smaller adventure, it means that the adventure has to be run. The upshot of that is that the core rulebooks of any game I...

Do you buy new versions of TTRPG games when you haven't had time to play the older version sitting on your shelf?

Yes and no. These days, I won't buy a game unless I have fairly solid plans to play it soon, so that mitigates against a lot of purchases of this sort. However, if I do intend to play it soon, I may well end up buying in to the latest version of the game, even if I have a previous edition that...

What Published Modules Have You Run or Played Multiple Times?

I've run "Lost Mine of Phandelver" twice, and one bit of "Storm King's Thunder" twice. I think that's all - I find the concept of running something multiple times a little odd as I have so much adventure material that I'll never use all of it once, never mind repeats. (The two runs of LMoP were...

D&D 5E Which was the most recent Wizards adventure you consider a classic?

"Lost Mine of Phandelver", but absolutely not "The Shattered Obelisk" - the adventure is very much not improved by the expansion. Before that, you're going all the way back to "Red Hand of Doom".

D&D General Feats are in. What is the current feel about multiclassing?

I haven't allowed it recently, due to being philosophically opposed to the notion. That said, going forward I'm now inclined to relax that, as one of my other philosophical stances is that it's the player's character, so I shouldn't impose arbitrary restrictions.

D&D 5E Wizards values the power of conditions and noncombat effects as virtual damage.

D&D 5E Why Do Higher Levels Get Less Play?

No idea. Perhaps the initial enthusiasm didn't match the play experience, or the group just didn't gel, or... something. I dunno. But my understanding, based on old and half-remembered survey data, was that an awful lot of "campaigns" don't make it past the first session.

90% of D&D Games Stop By Level 10; Wizards More Popular At Higher Levels

I'm not at all surprised. For my part, in 37 years I've had a grand total of four campaigns make it to level 10 or above. And, in truth, every one of those felt like it just went on too long.

D&D General Why grognards still matter

I don't think WotC's strategy is really about selling books. They're all about merchandising and licensing, and for that they need brand recognition. So they'd rather much have 100 kids who play exclusively using the free rules online than 1 grognard who buys all the books.

D&D 5E Why Do Higher Levels Get Less Play?

IIRC, the majority of campaigns still start at 1st level, or at the very least at low level. Most of those then collapse pretty much right away, and even the ones that don't average 6 sessions (or approx 24 hours of play). So there isn't much time to level up significantly. Basically, there...

You're approached by a Hollywood exec...

Spelljammer confirmed! I make no claim it would be successful, but if they're mad enough to ask me what I want to see, that's something I think would be cool. I would, of course, be insisting on actual Spelljammer, not the version currently bearing its name. (It might not count, though -...

D&D General What does "This adventure is for mid-level adventurers" mean to you?

5-12. But I wouldn't use that term in relation to 5e (since it has its own defined tiers). And I agree with the OP - when advertising an adventure, the actual level range should be used.

    Spoilers Cobra Kai Final Episodes

I think they dropped the Sekai Taikai thing - it was foreshadowing for the series. For the other: his wife had a necklace that was stolen from them. Miyagi broke in to steal it back, was caught and attacked by the guy, and injured him in self-defence. That was then spun by the media as him...
