Amazon takes over Bond franchise

Amazon has had the distribution rights for Bond since it acquired MGM a few years ago. Creative control was held by EON (the UK film company headed up by Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson).

Can anyone confirm if Amazon now owns the complete and and total rights to everything 007? I don't know all the details, but I know some weird stuff went down that lead to a non-EON Bond in Never Say Never Again, and that bizarre Blofeld/not-Blofeld scene at the beginning of For Your Eyes Only.

Could this also mean a return of James Bond Jr? :p

I'm guessing another childhood franchisee going the way of Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Dr. Who.

I just saw an article about how phones and technology are making kids/adults less cognitive in thinking since they can just ask the phone how to spell or what is the capital of, or how to do something. People are lazy and not trying to figure it out, or in this case (and all the others recently) trying to come up with something new.

Make a 008 movie and come up with something cool.

well given what people were wanting in the other thread, this will give them that. Bond without Bond
Talk about "be careful what you wish for". I was engaging in that conversation as an intellectual exercise. I do think that it could be done well (Bond without Bond) but I also think that there's a really good chance that they will screw it up (the phrase: "Exploit the IP" always worries me - the problem is in the word "exploit".)

This sounds more likely to be like Sony's use of Spider-Man Villains than it does like the ideas we were discussing in the other thread. I should have known better.
