Amazon takes over Bond franchise

Yeah, this is the end of an era. As you said, even if not every outing was great, The Broccolis made Bond the longest-lasting film franchise I can think of. Generations grew up with Bond. I can't say I'm hopeful here.
My Dad and brothers used to say that before we had the big summer blockbusters like Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Back to the Future, and stuff like that, we had Bond movies. They were the big action movies of their time.

Really? Broccoli and Wilson are 64 and 83, and probably didn't feel they they had the energy for creative arguments with Amazon. I'm sure they don't need the money, especially not after this deal. Time to grow vegetable marrows.
"I think its one of those situations where its a family legacy and keeping it is worth it. Though, everything has its price, and Amazon being able to pay that price is kinda scary.

$20 says the new James Bond will be bald.
About time! I'm ready!

It’s not like it’s their family that wrote the books. And really, what’s the good of money if you have no time to spend it, or retirement when you are too frail to enjoy it?

Folks run businesses into their 90's if they are so inclined. There is an amount you cant say no to. An amount that ensures a family legacy continues on for the foreseeable future. Its scary that somebody can not just pay it, but do so repeatedly.
