    It's Dark Sun

When all is said and done, the GRIMDARK is perhaps the most important part of the Dark Sun feel- anything that messes with this needs to be lost.

    It's Dark Sun

Hang on. Didn't the haflings live in some verdant, gorgeous rainforest area- nature turned up to 11- that was a) almost utterly inaccessable and b) horribly dangerous? Wouldn't this do as a Feywild substitute?

    It's Dark Sun

Cross the haflings with the 4e gnome mechanics, and watch your party spend the entire damn campaign watching over their backs. Waiting.

    It's Dark Sun

Anyone thinking Paladins, clerics etc. might be folded into the Templar concept? It would be about the only way they would really fit.

    It's Dark Sun

One of the main draws of the Dark Sun setting is that it was D&D that was not Tolkein- not even a little. All of the races were either dramatically altered (haflings as cannibal jungle dwellers) or supposedly wiped out centuries ago (Gnomes, orcs, goblinoids). Replacements included the Tri-Kreen...

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Sneak Peeks Part 2 (New thread)

The real test with the rogue will of course be to see if their skills are still relavent at 10th level.

I stand corrected and somewhat chastened.

    Minions: What Bugs You?

Fixed for accuracy. I like the minions system- while it is not internally consistent, it is a simple and elegant means for resolving a) the complexity in mass numbers of enemies in regards to status, condition tracks etc. and b) level increase- those soldiers you fought in fours and fives at...

Review of the Eberron Campaign Guide...

Oh Bladey. You never looked so good. My first impressions concerning the new dragonmarked house were 'rubbish.' Now I am actually intrigued. Hang on- Vol being only level 19? This is being retconned to epic level right now in my head. Sigh.....I'm buying this, aren't I? Just as soon as...

    Minions: What Bugs You?

I love them- once ran a battle with 5x4th level characters vs. 80 zombie rotters. Absolutely wonderful (What...there's more?!) Although the whole 4=1 normal monster is rubbish, in my opinion...8 at least.

Where does the Psion leave the Monk?

I have to agree that the Monk seems a little jarring if the Psion is the default example of the power source. Only time will tell. The real issue here of course is- will I finally be able to play a character based on Kaneda from Akira? If so, then the rest is utterly unimportant.

Why the beer hate? (Forked Thread: What are the no-goes...)

I can attest to this. In Australia, all of the gaming groups I was part of didn't drink. When I moved to England all of the gaming groups I ran with either drank or gamed in a pub. Oh, and the one time we perceived that overdrinking was having a detrimental effect on the game, we all agreed to...

    Forked Thread: Playing Mary Sue

I have been in a campaign where this happened, almost by accident. It was a Conan campaign; one of the players had been addending every night and thus had reached a relatively higher levels than everyone else. This, coupled with some very lucky stat roles and a clever (rather than outright...

Future Eberron - Post apoc world

No! You took Fareun- don't you dare take the Dragon between! ... In all seriousness though any sort of post-apolcalyptic scenario involving Khorvaire practically screams to use the Mornland. The most obvious step would be to have the players wandering the Mist-Shrouded, shattered landscape...

Mary Sue- Not sure I understand

Er....ah....that's preicsely what I intended all along.

Mary Sue- Not sure I understand

Then in all seriousness it sounds like drastic action may be needed. What would happen, canon-wise, if the NPC vanished or expired?

Mary Sue- Not sure I understand

So long as the game is about the players and not the NPC, it will be fine.

Mary Sue- Not sure I understand

The lead of Ann Bishop's Black Jewels Trilogy seems to me to be a perfect example of a Mary Sue as a main character. The elements are all there- tragic background (abusive family who hurt or merely don't appreciate her), a small harem of vampire-esque loner nobles who vie for her affections...
