    [Nexus] AoO change

Spycraft eliminates Attack of Opportunity completely. Certain feats and weapons grant "free attacks" that work in a similar manner--but much less common than the AoO. Not trying to debate systems, but since you're working on whole new rules for Nexus, I thought it might be useful to get out of...

Covert Ops Feats (Louis Porter Jr. Design)

I second the motion... We all love the game. Let it just be fun.

Covert Ops Feats (Louis Porter Jr. Design)

I didn't mean open content to non-open content--only open to open. I was thinking of the mutation sections of d20 Future stuff I've seen elsewhere. I'll dig up examples. I often confuse d20 Apoc (not open yet) and d20 Future (mostly open).

Covert Ops Feats (Louis Porter Jr. Design)

When I tried to make this very point on the WotC boards (as I've seen material from other OGL products make it in to d20 Future, Apocalypse, etc) the thread got mod'ed and all the posts deleted. I thought it was odd that WotC would take offense at being accused of using their own license... But...

Very Cool Resource for Pulp Games

I've captured these for the d20 Modern Resource List.

    Optional Combat Round System?

I'm having trouble picturing what realism you're trying to capture--other than possibly more shots per round. You've increased MDT so that players will almost never drop from massive damage. You've implemented VP/WP only you seem to have kept the "x2" damage modifiers (usually critical hits in...

    Optional Combat Round System?

As a half measure without attempting to completely re-write combat you might try a few things to make combat more gritty (aka: deadly). You could try lowering the Massive Damage Threshold to 10. This is easily exceeded with small arms fire and should cut down charging in to the bullets...

SC2.0 Style NPC Generation For Modern

Drat... i was interested in seeing a conversion. But I already have the SC 2.0 rules and I could probably create something with these rules on my own. I'm afraid Adamant is on my "to be avoided if possible" vendor list.

SC2.0 Style NPC Generation For Modern

For the love of Higher Powers, Heap... can we have a new version of this tool yet?

    Exceeding the Wealth Bonus?

I haven't play tested either. I just made up Wealth below Zero. I think Nadaka (from the WotC board) actually uses Going for Broke. *shrug* I never really have a problem munging the wealth system to accommodate what hairbrained scheme my players come up with. I was just mentally pondering...

    Exceeding the Wealth Bonus?

Sorta... Wealth 0 means you're still paying the bills. There is no negative impact other than you can't buy anything over PDC 10 (and you have to roll for it). So if all things remain the same you still own your car, gear, home etc. To take a stab at answering my own question I'll steal from...

Alternatives to the D20 wealth system

Spycraft 2.0 has a nice enhancement that could be tweaked to work with d20 Modern. They break wealth down in to 3 categories Lifestyle, Possessions and Spending Cash. You can put your wealth awards into one of these. Each is only a 10 point scale where a Lifestyle 10 character would be living...

    Exceeding the Wealth Bonus?

Right decreases in wealth equate to decreases in overall purchasing power as the cash flow balance begins to even out (cash in begins to equal cash out). But what if I sign up for 14 credit cards, secure financing on a new Cadilac SUV, go on a crazy gun and jewelry shopping bender and then...

    Exceeding the Wealth Bonus?

The d20 Modern Wealth system has a lot of "specialness" but I was just pondering a situation that it doesn't quite cover--living beyond your means. What if a player encounters the cliche "you have 48 hours to live"... What can he buy knowing he'll never have to pay it off? Or what if the...

    The great d20 sci-fi bakeoff

I love Dawning Star and Blood & Space. Both can be used in a wide spread of campaigns but each still has its own product strengths. The Blood & Space 2 campaign setting is easy to pick up quickly and modify to use. DS (especially with the arm breaking Helios Rising) as a complete campaign...

    d20 Wealth Tracker

D20 Modern vs. Spycraft: Tell me which one you like better

We're going to make a SC 2.0 convert out of you yet, Vigilance! *hehe* I read Blood & Fists. I know you like integrated complex rule sets. I agree with everything you said about d20, it sure is easy once you know it all. But SC does have some nice adds...

D20 Modern vs. Spycraft: Tell me which one you like better

If you are rock-solid in your understanding of d20 (either DnD or Modern), then Spycraft 2.0 will be exciting to you for its improvements on that system. Magic (i.e. spells) are not really defined in Spycraft yet. There are several magic system options available to d20 Modern that would all...

Hogshead Publishing: Fright Night Adventures - any good?

I was thinking you could have a small naval fleet locked in the ice of the Artic... frozen zombie-ness ensues. That way you could have the various buildings of Weekend Warriors represented as ships in the ice. A destroyer with a troop carrier or something.

Hogshead Publishing: Fright Night Adventures - any good?

I like Hogshead as a publisher. I own The Mob, The Feds, and The Police. I found all of them to be well written and good with the background information they provided. They are d20 compatible, but not based on the MSRD (based on the SRD instead). But that's a very minor tweak. I never...
