When is D&D Insider actually launching?

Agreed 100%. There MUST be a Beta no later than Gen Con for this to be viable, or even an Alpha where members of the community are able to be testers and post their results. Anything short of that and customer confidence goes through the basement floor. My bet is, they're having scalability...

When is D&D Insider actually launching?

Vaporware demoes are rarely functional products and are many times mockups of what is envisioned to be the funcitonal product. In other words, they are basically videos that mock being products. I'd also agree, if the Character Generator, Dungeon Builder, Character Visualizer, and Virtual...

When is D&D Insider actually launching?

And apparently, the most sought after and most difficult to develop parts are what's still outstanding. It's not tough to publish content on the web (Dungeon and Dragon virtual magazines). Putting a search engine against a small database is a pretty easy applicaiton to develop (rules...

When is D&D Insider actually launching?

Wasn't there supposed to be a character generator where you could store characters, too? Also, they were saying something like one feature per month. It's been a month since the Rules Compendium came out. I wonder what new feature will eb rolled out in the next day or two?

When is D&D Insider actually launching?

They made an expansion which allowed you incredible flexibility for customization and included classes like the psionicist. You could also create custom classes. IT was the pinnacle of software from WotC/TSR. Nothing from them since has even come close.

When is D&D Insider actually launching?

Best bet would be to keep checking the WotC DDI General Discussion area on the Wizards site: http://forums.gleemax.com/forumdisplay.php?f=878

When is D&D Insider actually launching?

Definitely not. My expectations are that in 9 months they'll announce that it is no longer the D&D Initiative (DDI) But has been scaled back to D&D Virtuality (DDV) where you get something along the lines of a really scaled back OpenRPG virtual tabletop and nothing else.

When is D&D Insider actually launching?

Well, Core Rules 1 did exactly what it was advertised to do. It supported the Core Rules, nothing more. Core Rules 2 gave you a bit more flexibility, but was still lacking. It was only when Peter Adkison demanded a prodcut that could support his 30th level Dwarf Paladin that the Expansion was...

When is D&D Insider actually launching?

The Core Rules 2 CD-ROM with the Expansion CD add-on was absolutely wonderful. Of course, right after they got the software right for 2E, they announced 3E.

    Rate WotC as a company

I've gotta admit, WotC could teach GW a thing or two about errata, seeing as how GW never publishes any and always refers questions to the RAW answer. It serves the interests of GW to stick with RAW being canon, though, as each newly developed army codex that goes with the mess of new models for...

That would eb a pretty cruel joke on the new player, IMO.

Pathfinder 1E Rate Paizo as a Company!

I give them a solid 5. I'm mostly a PDF customer and I could not be happier with the result (buying up old 2E PDFs). From what I've seen of the Pathfinder Alpha, I'm incredibly impressed. They've pushed the edge fo the envelope for RPGs and are actually listening to the fan base for the Beta...

    Rate WotC as a company

4E has been a broad success. Other games are doing nicely. The division is profitible. I voted a 2 because of some moral qualms I have with them. If I were to judge WotC solely based upon performance as a division of a publicly traded company, I'd have to increase that to a 4, minimum. Id' up...

    Rate WotC as a company

I gave a 2. The quality of the products diminishes with each year, they've missed the deadline for a major portion of 4E (DDI), and they treat third party partners like trash. They'll drop to a 1 if there is no full blown tabletop for DDI by the end of August, IMO. If they go to the end of...

    Changeover poll

I've never played and am sticking to 2E for now. IF they ever get DDI fully functional, I'll be all in and will buy two copies of everything (one hard copy, one soft copy). 4E looks to me best suited for online play and going online will allow me much more play time than on my tabletop.

Have you bought the 4E PDFs?

If they get the fully funcitonal DDI up and running, I'll buy all three PDFs. 4E looks especially suited for online play.

Poison Pill v. Restraint of Trade

The problem with that thinking is that the SRD is 100% WotC content, and is also the basis of everything licensed under the OGL. WotC placed a virus in the OGL because they own the SRD.

That's it; I am done buying minis'!

I've always found it's far more fun to create new monsters based upon miniatures from third party companies than to use those niche monsters from D&D that everybody can already find stats on. Keeps the players on their toes.
