Sagiro's Story Hour: The FINAL Adventures of Abernathy's Company (FINISHED 7/3/14)

This cliffhanger is making me want to break the profanity rule on ENWorld. Love it!

Nominate the third inductee into the RPG Hall of Fame!

On that basis I'll throw in a nomination for the English Steve Jackson, and also Ian Livingstone. For the creation of the Fighting Fantasy books. Also seconding Ed Greenwood, Monte Cook, Maj. David Wesley and Ryan Dancey.

    Let's Talk Initiative, Shall We?

Feng Shui, the action movie ropeplaying game, has another mechanic. Each character has an initiative score (1d6+stat) and rolls at the start of each round. You act on your initiative count, plus every three 'beats' after that. Certain actions (such as complicated spells) may take longer to fire...

Sagiro's Story Hour: The FINAL Adventures of Abernathy's Company (FINISHED 7/3/14)

Update! Wheeee! Thank you! Very interesting discussion. Things falling into place rapidly now, about what's really been going on all this time. And I can see how this might go, if Our Heroes are victorious...but we're a long way short of that, and there are an awful lot of save-or-die saving...

What do you do when you run out of stories to tell?

I don't have a newspaper to hand so I went to https:\\news.bbc.co.uk. Top Story thus becomes: Accused Goblin Misses Sunday Mass. Change the name, possibly change it to a human Cleric, and you've got a story right there. Why did he miss *insert important religious ceremony*. Who is this guy...

Happy Haggert Hurried Hungry Hitch Hiking Hired Henchmen Hivers.... apply within

We blame Crothian. One GenCon he decided to start a very long thread in the Meta forum whilst all the moderators were away gaming. This then became a running joke...eventually it was named the Hivemind.

Happy Haggert Hurried Hungry Hitch Hiking Hired Henchmen Hivers.... apply within

It struck me in another thread that the existence of the Hive can be traced back to the previous century. Thought you all should know.

    Ummm... Hello there :D

One quick note is that if you're interested in general chatting in-thread the very long Hivemind thread might be a good place for you. It's a long-running thread of inanity, running jokes and silliness and you absolutely don't need to have been reading anything before now to understand it. I...

Oots 870: Death in the Family

Important to note that Belkar has, as yet, not got the X's over his eyes to indicate that he's been killed. We may be looking at a cliffhanger/last-minute-rescue.

Experience Point: One Hundred Thirty Two Pounds

...that's a lot of books. I've toyed with the idea of a budget in my head a few times, but in true procrastinator style I've always put it off. Given the success of the To-Do list, though, I think now might be the time. Or, and truthfully this is because I'm running low on time today, tomorrow...

Going to London in 2 weeks - what should I do?

For Geek shopping look up Forbidden Planet & Orcs Nest, both near to Leicester Square & Covent Garden. Leicester Square also has the Official Half Price Ticket Booth if you want to try and see a London West End show without paying full price (very much subject to availability). If you're going...

    Advice for Running Con Games

I drafted this a while back as something I was going to submit to Morrus as part of a regular column. Hope it's useful:

Sagiro's Story Hour: The FINAL Adventures of Abernathy's Company (FINISHED 7/3/14)

I am really hoping for a Card Hunter beta key. :) I'm also wondering if we're going to see any sneaky Starcraft / Freedom Force / Abernathy links in that game?

Recent board games and what I thought [add your own capsule reviews]

Games of Thones Board game: Take the role of one of six houses and battle your way to victory! I've played this twice now and both times we've not had the full six players. This means some areas of the map are "NPCs" but can still be captured and still count towards the victory conditions. IMO...

    Character Problem

I would say that if you, as a GM, don't have access to a rulebook that a player is using then you don't allow them to use it without them bring an actual physical copy to the table to show you. This will allow you to go through their character (as you need to do) and check this kind of thing...

Recent board games and what I thought [add your own capsule reviews]

Lords of Waterdeep: Got this for Xmas and have played it a couple of times so far. Just to add to what other people have said above I really enjoyed playing it. Simple mechanic that everyone picked up nice and quickly, had a nice feel to it, competitive without being too back-stabby. And I suck...

    Jack Reacher Spoilers

I've been describing it to friends as a really solid crime thriller, but quite forgettable. I'm unlikely to be interested in bothering to see it again, but I enjoyed watching it whilst I was there.

    Christmas Special The Snowmen

Really enjoyed the episode, particularly the gleeful fun banter between everyone. Some of the funniest stuff I've heard in a Who episode. Interesting to hear about the various theories on Oswin.
