    What scares me

If you've got a copy of the 3.0 player's handbook have a look at the list of playtesters in the back. There seems to be a lot of names there, to me. The core books usually get a good workout by playtesters. Unfortunately this hasn't extended to non-core books. Some of them don't seem to have...

    What scares me

I did a small role in playtesting 3.0, and I wasn't allowed to tell anyone that I had until the game was released. I think anyone who said they were playtesting 3.0 were breaking their NDA. This time around only people in the US were able to be playtesters, because WotC's lawyers decided they...

    Dragon's Tail Cut?

off-topic: Will Smith wants remake karate kid, starring his 8-year old son as Daniel. Help stop him! http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/scotty-and-nige-say-no-to-the-wil-smith-katrate-kid-remake

    Dragon's Tail Cut?

This is an interesting point. Simple names to start, fancier names as you go up. Dragon's Tail Cut doesn't make me think of anything like a longsword sweeping the feet out from an opponent. Soon enough it would be DTC, and we would have another TLA* to deal with. Sword Sweep - explanatory...

Alright WotC, fess up...who came up with "Emerald Frost"?

So you think a player shouldn't be able to create a character before the game?

New Core Rulebooks Every Year - A Mistake

To those that are worried about new players buying the wrong book, I would like to point out that someone is VERY likely to tell them that the book the need is called the Player's Handbook. It's not an obvious name to someone who hasn't played before. When I started I bought a box labelled...

New Core Rulebooks Every Year - A Mistake

Wonderful rule that one. At the start of each session, the Cleric lists ALL spells not in the PHB they could possibly choose to memorise during the session. Then when they are finished the Hexblade reads out the definition of Hexblade. Then we realise the session time is over, and we are done.

New Core Rulebooks Every Year - A Mistake

Interesting thought, but for me I think I would prefer to have a setting book each year matching up with the setting-neutral material in that year's PHB/DMG/MM. Eg, in 2009 we have PHB2,DMG2,MM2, Eberron Update 2, Realms Update 2. That way the material stays modular and setting-neutral, but you...

Alright WotC, fess up...who came up with "Emerald Frost"?

So a player of a religous character needs a copy of the DMG just to create their character? "Ummmm I worship the God of Knowledge. I don't know his name, or what else he stands for, but that's what my new cleric worships." "But the god of knowledge in the DMG is EVIL! You can't worship him!"...

    D&D 4E Comment about 4E designers loving D&D

It's not pointless if the creature you are fighting has an AC between 121 and 140. At that point the 120 becomes pointless.

If they "silo" spells, why not skills?

I propose we "silo" the term "silo", seal it in a big metal tube and send it to the bottom of the ocean. Can we just use "category", and it's derivatives, instead?

    Return of Boxed Sets?

I've often thought about something similar to this idea. My idea is for a "value-added" extra component for the mega adventures. I ran a group through Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil, so I had some experience working with this. My suggestion is that the "extras" for the module are...

    Eberron novel line. Any standouts?

Hope you don't mind me reprising an old thread - been unable to get to the boards for a couple of months, and wanted to check if anyone had responded to my posts. Having read Keith's post... Keith, have you ever wondered if you should be supplying a "D&D script" with a novel, listing what is...

Problem for Aussie gamers accessing ENworld

I'm with netspace, and finally got on today (18th March, previous logon 14 January). I don't know when it came back, but within the last week.

Hey, I can get to ENWORLD again!

Hooray I've read a post from Piratecat! :-) For the last two month my only communication has been my subscription to Sagiro's story hour. And there hasn't been an update in that time *cry* * Nope, no guilt, Sagiro - I understand that you are busy, and why you are busy, and that family comes...

Hey, I can get to ENWORLD again!

I'm not with Optus, but certainly could use them along the way. And I'm glad there is another thread or two about this, but it wasn't really possible for me to check the boards for threads about it when I couldn't get on. Offhand, I didn't know Morrus' email address. Morrus@enworld.org didn't...

Hey, I can get to ENWORLD again!

Well, after about two months, I can finally get to ENWORLD again. I've no idea what's been going on, but I couldn't even get a PING repsonse from my home address (and it was blocked at work). I was getting subscription thread emails, but nothing I tried would let me go to the website. I'm...

Sales of upcoming Greyhawk Ruins will determine it's future

LGG needs, more than anything, an INDEX. It needed it when it was the Greyhawk boxed set. It needed it as LGG in 3e. and it still needs it. At the moment it can take a lot of effort to figure out what area a town is in, when it just lists the name of the town. More than a few times in Living...

    Eberron novel line. Any standouts?

Don is openly gay (on a gaymer list I'm on), and I got the feeling that the shifter and his companion were "more than just good friends" If you think it's possible, and re-read the start of the first book, you'll see what I mean.

    Eberron novel line. Any standouts?

I've read the first few Eberron novels, and far too many FR and DL ones ;-) Keith Baker's are good, but his lack of novel writing experience shows. I look forward to seeing him improve his writing. Don Brassingtons were excellent. Characters were provocative, consistent, believable. There's...
