    Spammers

A spam troll is CR 1/6, so not very much. Yes, it is edible, but like the processed ham (maybe?) product, you never really know what you're eating. :p

Skill based magic in D20 games.

I still don't see it. Versatility doesn't make you more powerful. You are still limited to a certain maximum spell level. You also don't have all those skill points to spend on other skills. A Smart hero who focused only on casting spells wouldn't be so useful when you needed a guy who could...

Skill based magic in D20 games.

But you don't have to allow every magical tradition in Mythic Earth, and the feat investment should be deterrent enough anyway. Actually, it says near the beginning of the book that you should start with nothing and choose stuff from the book that you want for your game, instead of starting...

    Elements of Magic: Mythic earth

Well, I didn't like that not all ability scores could be increased by the various action types. The fact that it's simpler than Elements of Magic - Revised Edition (a mana point system that used the elements heavily) is both a blessing and a curse--what you get in streamlining you lose in...

Skill based magic in D20 games.

I third the motion for Elements of Magic - Mythic Earth. It is, hands down, the best option for skills-based magic. The amount of variation you can make in rules and magical style allow it to work for any genre, and the skill-based mechanic removes a lot of the mess that other magic systems...

    Elements of Magic: Mythic earth

Haha, it's not nice to leave game books in the morning. I've used it in an Urban Arcana game. Been toying around with a setting or two that would use it, but haven't had a chance to DM again. I like the feel of it more than the mechanics. It just feels so right for making magic feel...

    Anyone still playing Dawning Star?

Man, I haven't run Dawning Star since i had to cancel all my games in September '07 because of a new job. I want to pick it up again, though.

    Forked Thread: The Impasse

Granted, despite what I said above, there are certain kiting strategies that are most definitely "cheating". For instance, trapping an enemy on a corner so they can't run at you. That seldom works in real life.

Is standing behind a parapet or arrowslit considered kiting? How about raining thousands of arrows (or machine gun fire) down upon exposed infantry? That's not cheating, it's Intelligence.

    thisiswhyyourefat.com - That's some Good Eatin'!

 There's a little village in the mountains of Italy where the majority of the population is descended from one man. People with his family name have a statistically lower chance of heart disease, so low in fact that it's simply unfair. They eat all kinds of hearty Italian foods, and stay...

Thank you. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what xechnao was talking about in that post. After reading the thread, it's not much better understanding that specific post, but at least now I get where the thoughts were coming from with relation to the overall thread topic.

    Forked Thread: The Impasse

I didn't see the original thread, and the link in the first post leads to the main forum page. Anyone have a working link? :hmm:

I'd eat that. An ultra-high metabolism and a rare genetic mutation that transforms LDL into HDL have their advantages.

    Race War?

Funny story - I hadn't seen that ad until I clicked on this thread, and there it was at the top of the screen. My guess is it's probably another Google ad. :erm:

And there are other MMORPGs besides WoW, you know. My vice is Mabinogi, and I am the only player on the North American servers who has the twitch reflexes and mental processing speed to fight light gargoyles without using any skill but icebolt. ...And like Oni said, without the ability to...

Ordering From The Producer or Ordering From Stores?

I always buy straight from the producer/manufacturer if I can. More money goes directly to them that way.

    Piracy

Regardless of whether the fine print of legality says it's piracy or not, I know the best smooth-talking lawyers in the world are no match for a judge who sees me sitting on the witness stand HOLDING THE BOOK IN MY HANDS. Can you say "case dismissed"? Judges are allowed to throw frivolous...

    Piracy

Actually, more like this: Jeez, what is this? They're making it sound like I couldn't do any of this with any previous edition of D&D, they're shoehorning what is Fun and Cool into their own definition while simultaneously knocking my definition as BadWrongFun, and they're writing to me like...
