D&D 5E Can a Battlemaster pickup a disarmed weapon as part of his action?

The list of examples of 'free' interactions are typical examples of what is generally allowed. It is not meant as an absolute. It is a free interaction to plant a banner. Would you still allow it in a stone dungeon? Drawing a sword is a free action. Would you still allow it if the PC was...

D&D 5E Is this guy legally publishing 5e stuff?

I'm pretty sure there isn't actually any law preventing him from mentioning DnD 5E if he wants to; as long as it is clear he is not affiliated nor is it an endorsement.

    D&D 5E Low magic player characters in D&D 5e

Limit cantrips to X times per day. No casting classes until 3rd level, full casting classes can't be more than 1/2 of your levels.

D&D 5E Concentration: Addressing Player Concerns

Yeah, my Paladin is a bit cranky about all of the Con checks for his spells, as is my Ranger. Neither one of them gets all that many slots anyway, and to have *any* damage have a 40% chance of breaking the spell..... I don't think there should be a DC10 minimum, either go by straight damage...

    D&D 5E What is Missing from 5E?

I don't want PC crunch. No more feats or subclasses etc. Adventures, Campaign ideas, adventures, cities and towns, organizations (secret or otherwise), adventures, political motivations, and maybe an adventure or two. edit: Blah... I thought I was in the Necromancer Games thread.... I...

    D&D 5E XP per Session !!???

OTOH, lets look at what they have actually put out. Expeditions are about 5-600 XP each. So it will take 3-4 4-hr sessions to get from 3 to 4, and 6-8 4-hr sessions to go from 4 to 5. HotDQ Ep3 has mini-encounters supposedly worth about 300XP each, so it will take 13 of them to go from 4th to...

    D&D 5E XP per Session !!???

Think of 2 sessions. I just level to 6th.... fun times and this week I get to play at 6th level. Next week I end the session at 7th level. I didn't even get a chance to get used to being 6th level. I would think it should be more like 4-8 sessions. That gives you a chance to get used to the...

D&D 5E Am I the only one that dislikes Adventure Paths?

The issue isn't with adventures... its with a single adventure that covers 20 levels. To solve your situation, you could just pick up 2-5 smaller adventures and tie them together as you wished. My campaigns would regularly use commercial 'modules' that I would then embellish to make them a...

    D&D 5E Awesome AP vid

Don't get me wrong, they did a really nice job, and I watched all 3. They were fun, but I would not want to use them as an advertisement to let people know what DnD is all about. I have been playing for a few decades now, and have somehow managed to never murder sleeping children, nor some...

D&D 5E Am I the only one that dislikes Adventure Paths?

My only exposure to Adventure Path is HotDQ. And I am not a fan. I prefer shorter adventures, even if they are tied together. As a DM it gives me more flexibility in presenting them, and often gives the players more flexibility in how to solve them. Further, from what I know of HotDQ and...

    D&D 5E Awesome AP vid

You're crazy. The bulk of the adventures deals with the "heroes" trying to murder civilians, including children, in their sleep. Plus, they get a lot of the rules wrong.

Adventurer's League Nights and Going Nova

Another option is to change up the short/long rests. I have been thinking about making overnight be a short rest, and overnight, then day of rest, then overnight, be a long rest.

It is a monk weapon, all monk weapons can use Dex instead of Str.

I disagree, it says the hit points are its "normal maximum" not its "normal average".

    D&D 5E Favored Enemy needs a simple Damage +2

You are pulling the Swift Quiver quote out of context. When it says "such" an attack, it is referring to the attack it *just* described... the ones allowed by the spell. There is nothing in the spell saying it applies to *all* attacks made. If your DM is allowing you to play that way, more...

D&D 5E Racial Ability Score Mods

I have house ruled that for skills you are proficient in, you get the stat bump on the odd number. So a 15 gives a +2 normally, and a +3 if you are profiicient. It makes the odd values mean something.
