    Traps with bypasses

I think that is the right approach with any kind of switch when found. I also think that if someone attempts Disable Device on that trap, and they have previously seen that switch, they should have a much improved chance of figuring out the working of the trap, as they have a substantial hint...

Any Offical Answer on wether Potions can be Delivered via "The Other End"

Well, it still seems like drinking the potion, to me. Just skips the mouth. I’m thinking of the effects of potions functioning more like transubstantiation than ordinary substances. They trigger spells, after all. Somehow. Personally, I favor having to drop them into the stomach, but I can...

Archers: no attack of opportunity when you full attack?

Yes, sorry, by “based on the above”, I did not mean that they were the same. I meant I based a conclusion on the only relevant information I could find. Specifically, if additional moving does not trigger extra AOO, I suspect that further attacks don’t trigger extra opportunities for the same...

Archers: no attack of opportunity when you full attack?

SRD: “Moving out of more than one square threatened by the same opponent in the same round doesn’t count as more than one opportunity for that opponent.” Even with combat reflexes, I wonder if additional ranged attacks as part of a full attack qualify as new opportunities for AOO. Based on the...

    Darkwood Buckler revisited

Yes, but a buckler has uses that a small shield does not, hence its existence, I think. Again, not important, but it is all relative.

    Darkwood Buckler revisited

Well, Druids could use them then. Important, hardly. Less important than anything else discussed here is a bit of a hair split. edit: Hey, stop that! Get your own unimportant thread!

What are the rules for SETTING traps?

They are there. DMG pg 76 and before. The process is a skill check; from the SRD: Craft DCs For Mechanical Traps Once you know the Challenge Rating of a trap determine the Craft (trapmaking) DC by referring to the table and the modifiers given below. Trap CR Base Craft(Trapmaking) DC 1-3 20...

Any Offical Answer on wether Potions can be Delivered via "The Other End"

Has removing the gag been considered? What use is a caster in that condition, anyway? Potions are magical, rather than, say, coffee or medicine, so I think conventional ones only work the one way. The tracheotomy idea seems fine, though.

    Darkwood Buckler revisited

“Items not normally made of wood or only partially of wood (such as a battleaxe or a mace) either cannot be made from darkwood or do not gain any special benefit from being made of darkwood.” Since the buckler and small wooden shield have identical stats, the stats for the DWB could arguably be...

    Enlarged spiked chain

Strange. While the whip is clear that strikes can be made against all foes in range including adjacent ones, the chain says only adjacent ones. I can’t help suspecting that the intention was identical, but the wording was not applied well. My guess is that the descriptions are explicitly for...

Does a larger weapon size increase a weapon's reach?

The spiked chain does say that it provides 10’ reach while retaining the ability to attack adjacent foes. It mentions sizing, as well (the 10’ reach is a medium sized weapon, I assume). It does not say how long a spiked chain for a medium user is, though. What would happen if five feet of...

    Darkwood Buckler revisited

OK, I will chip in the other view. While calling a small Darkwood shield a Darkwood Buckler is, I agree, a poor choice, it is still pretty unambiguous as an item. As is the rule that says a buckler is metal. What a buckler is imagined to do exactly in the game has always been a bit of a...

What to do with a party that keeps dying?

It’s right there in the question- how to improve. I’m thinking by learning. Still, in retrospect I can see I’m all over the place here. Er…it’s the thought that counts?

Has complexity every worked for you as a DM?

Cool question. And no, no success. Always blank looks and “Where is the scroll or villain that explains this to us?”, year after year. I think I am the same as a player, too. Not dim, just expecting clichés in gaming, I guess.

What to do with a party that keeps dying?

Well, possibly. In this case, it seems like.

What to do with a party that keeps dying?

OK, looked at other thread. Most telling info from it was this from a player: “As a group we do not fight together and that is why Xini is trying to make a character who can stand alone and not fall. I hope to be able to use his character as a pin which holds the group together in combat.”...

What to do with a party that keeps dying?

I’m not posting just to say this, but I did not read the other thread, and yours does not give a lot of detail to help with the question. Primarily, if you are the DM, then I would suggest that you have enough to do without taking on the task of creating a group that is strategically savvy...

Settings with no world map - anybody tried?

Yea, go with it, it works great. You don’t have to tell the players that you don’t have a map, as well. You can tell them that their characters don’t have a map. Most settings provide players with a map, despite lots of text that suggests that characters would not have them, and possibly that...

    Spiked Chain using Rogue

One example where the term ally would not include yourself would be a situation where the minimum number of people to accomplish something is two. “You and an ally” is such an example; I find it hard to envision any case where that phrase could be interpreted as referring to a single person...

    why cant you sunder armour?

Also, since in D&D armor alters your chance to hit an opponent, rather than absorbing any of the damage when you do, it seems that missed attacks would represent ones hitting armor more so than successful ones. So, how could you land a Sunder attack? Heh.
