D&D 5E Abandoning attunement and scaling back concentration

And that's honestly the purpose of changing concentration. Making spells which "weren't worth it", worth it, especially for players who unknowingly screwed themselves by choosing those spells.

D&D 5E Abandoning attunement and scaling back concentration

Changing concentration is the single greatest way to solidify positive experimentation and the value of control focused characters in your game. I've done it twice now, and in both instances spellcasters were happier, felt cooler, and had an easier time choosing which spell to cast on their turn...

Looking for junior contract designers/layout folks for 5e-adjacent designs

Delete if this is the wrong spot for it of course, but I'm looking for some assistance in designing systems for kickstarters and the like, as well as some assistance in uploading docs to drivethrurpg and making them available for print. If you: -have any experience with indesign, acrobat, or...

D&D 5E How to get an undead army across an ocean?

I created a set of airships for my players, which I later turned into a kickstarter. One of the options was based off the Undead Hulk from Aerial Adventures (and old supplement Mearls designed). Conferred various benefits on undead who were aboard the ship and such (+2 to AC, resistance to...

Kickstarter: The Mechanazium, Part 1: a Megadungeon Adventure for 5e

I'm running a kickstarter for a megadungeon adventure! Closed in a metal cocoon, your players will be pitted against monstrosities that feed on their wounds and weaknesses in an escalating bid for survival. If you're looking for an easy to run, dynamic, tactical, nail biting adventure, I've...

    New shields

Funny, I made something similar awhile ago. Great for players who use multiple fighting styles. https://www.ashofcreativity.com/posts/2018/8/6/bucklers

    Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Sidekicks

Oh, now you're clearly being ridiculous. "Any character can fit in a 3x5 card!" Weird, most of the NPC statblocks don't (especially not the spellcasters!) Did you really jump into "well lots of different actions and weapons exist so that's just like the spellcasters and battlemasters and...

    Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Sidekicks

I can see you're not listening (which is fine, this is a public forum), but since other people get to read this, I'll put it another way for their benefit. A champion fighter of any given level fits into a 3x5 card or less. There is no difference in complexity between running it, or a...

    Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Sidekicks

No, it doesn't represent the mechanical bulk of an entire character. "Entire characters" range from multiclassed spellcasters to clerics to monks to whatever have you. There are worlds of difference between the champion and literally every player option in the game.

    Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Sidekicks

Considering the champion is the simplest subclass in the entirety of the game, that seems like an unfair example.

Kickstarter: The Alchemist, for 5th Edition

It's one of those names that just explode in your head when it comes to all the ways you conceptualize it. That can make it hard to pin down!

Kickstarter: The Alchemist, for 5th Edition

Hi Seramis! I included links to my various sites in my bio as I created my kickstarter yesterday, but as you mentioned I neglected to put them in the project itself. Here's a link to my FB page (where most of my support/traffic/work has been done)! I'll be sure to put it in the project...

Kickstarter: The Alchemist, for 5th Edition

I'm running a kickstarter for a 5e Alchemist class! I think Alchemy should be its own "thing" in the game; not a re-skinned way to cast spells. I'm not bashing other products that do that by any stretch of the imagination; there are a lot of cool concepts to play around with there...

Sacred Fist in Waterdeep: Future Subclass?

Bodes poorly tbh. Ranger's primary features are poorly designed (favored enemy, primeval awareness, natural explorer). Not trying to get us sidetracked on that though; the point is that presentation is a part of design. If people are reacting badly to it, something isn't in accord with...

    Mearls On D&D's Design Premises/Goals

I've actually been working on a few 5 level classes! They originated from my setting primarily, but most could be easily translated to another game. Might share them on here some time!

    Mearls On D&D's Design Premises/Goals

Since you can't seem to get it through your thick :):):):)ing skulls; I am ONLY saying I think it's a shame that one of the biggest designers out there doesn't think of us as being welcome at the table. That's all. That's it. Nothing else. I hope I don't have to explain why I'd like a...
