Dungeon Train was a great episode, and a complete riff on MMOs like World of Warcraft etc. I think that was the intent, but it could also apply to munchkin style D&D.

Gender is the only difference between a cow and an ox. Rothe are actually (as they appeared in the Fiend Folio) more like pygmy musk ox than cattle... but still, if they were going to go with bovine overload, why not give us some minotaur variants instead?

Yes, I love the fact that we get 4 different cow types. Why do we need an entry for "cow" and then a further entry for "Ox", which is a castrated bull (otherwise known as a steer). Then we get the aurochs (wild ancestor of modern cattle), and the rothe (or drow cow). That's something people have...

I don't think Jack Chick intended to harm anyone. He was basically preaching his religion and trying to get people he saw as sinners to convert. Had he been employing violence to do it, that would be another thing. As it stands though he was just putting his beliefs out there. I don't agree with...

Back in high school (in the 80s) I had the cover of his "Hi There" tract taped to the inside of my locker. Even then I enjoyed Chick Tracts in an ironic way... of course Dark Dungeons in particular. I can't hate or wish the man ill will because of his beliefs.

As someone else pointed out, this depiction is more in line with their roots in Celtic mythology. I dig it. :)

Agreed... and I would argue that Tolkien's orcs don't even have a culture to speak of. They are basically slaves to Sauron and Morgoth or Saruman in the case of the Uruk-Hai, and rarely do anything of their own volition that doesn't play into the overall plan of whichever dark lord they serve...

I'm looking forward to this book... and as mentioned before there are already a couple of great 3rd party monster books out there (5th Edition Foes and Tome of Beasts). As for fluff concerning orcs, goblins, etc. there is this...

Harmontown did something similar about a year or so ago. Basically if you want to listen the Podcast for free you just have to wait a week. I hope this is the case for CR and TT

Agreed... some of the wording irked me as well. The writer clearly hadn't met or talked to many DMs.

It looks really good and I am a sucker for anything with a Roman theme. I look forward to a hard back release of this in 5e format.
