    Fireball targeting

Yes, a ranged touch attack to hit the opening. Anyone know the ac of a arrow slit? I might base it on size, not how much ac it provides. But thats just my opinion, YMMV. Throwing a fireball past a melee, I usually just allow it, but would not object to a reasonable "to hit" roll being required.

Can i willingly take more time to cast a spell?

Can you ready an action to cast the 2nd swift spell or take a 2nd swift action? Does the "1 swift action per turn" rule trump the "ready an action" rule? Oddly, this is also being discuss on the WOTC forums; Can you switch a SA or Move-action for a Swift Action? - Wizards Community

    Full Attacks and AoO Poll

So out of 5 people who answered my question, no one has seen anyone play this way and only 1 has heard of it. I was hoping for more responses to get a larger sample. Anyone else care to answer the questions?

How do you guys handle Snese Motive?

Where does it say that players get to roll every dice for their characters? I know they want to, and some believe it is their Gygaxian given right to. You, the DM, are well within your power to make the rolls for them and only tell them if they succeed. Search, Sense Motive and Bluff are...

am i the jerk or is my friend?

The DM should have the right to know about everything in the game, except what characters are planning, and maybe even that (telepathy/divinations...). If anybody says they do something, but won't tell you what, you have a problem. You're brothers, so I will assume a level of rivalry. But...

You agree with a "never seen", but then say you have seen it before.

    Full Attacks and AoO Poll

In another Forum there is a person claiming that RAW say "Ranged attacks in a Full Attack action don't provoke an AoO." This is based off of; My questions are; Do you play this way? Have you ever heard of anyone playing this way (other than here)? My interpretation is the "no" refers to the...

Order of the Stick: Why isn't it going 4e?

Requesting edification But others say; I've only glanced at 4th Ed and am not planning on changing (mostly because I have so much $ spent on 3rd), so which comics have 4th ed jokes? Thanks.

    Would you drop this player?

I second (or third, or whatever); talk to him and give him another chance, but if he doesn't shape up...boot him. He might have an innocent excuse, but it sure sounds like he wants to disrupt the game for some reason. Don't let him.

Fixing high skill checks - the Rule of 3

The typical DnD assumption is that a person can (and usually does) stay L1 their whole (or at least almost) life. I disagree with this assumption, but thats not the point. The point is, your blacksmith could be a mature journeyman blacksmith, with many years at the forge. He has max ranks, an...

    Druid Magic in the desert

While it would be an interesting twist, don't surprise the players with it. Any halfway intelligent and competent druid should be aware of this effect (say, knowledge: nature dc 12 or so).

Ethereal Ninja attacking a sleeping PC.

Well, in this case, do it. They know what he is capable of and should take precautions. Just be sure to make all appropriate rolls (for the following questions) and write down (for verification/documentation) all timing issues (the ninja is limited in how much Ki he has available). - How do...

Ethereal Ninja attacking a sleeping PC.

Is the group aware that the ninja can use ghost step to go ethereal? Are the friendly creatures aware of this tactic of the ninja? It would seem seem to me that the party should be aware of this possible tactic of the ninja (having encountered him before). However, how experienced with high...

House rules ofr Magic Item creation

I can't point you anywhere, but I can tell you how I do it in my own E# game. If something requires a caster level high (but not too much) than E#, then make it a ritual/Incantation (from UA) needing a huge (x2 to x10) investment in gp (and/or really exotic ingredients), time and skill. If it...

    Non-Magic CCGs

Played some On the Edge. I particularly liked the cards that let you change the victory conditions of the game or play a card from another card game. Wacky fun, to bad the card art wasn't that good.

    D&D 1E Favorite 1E House Rule?

Some houserules from a friend of mine; - Clerics could spontaneously cast all 1st and 2nd level spells (because no one wanted to play clerics). - healing spells healed (+ targets level) in hp (higher level characters get more healing) - wizards gain bonus spells for high int. - spend a...
