How often does your party take a short rest?

If possible, after every encounter. :p Since that usually makes the DM pull out the "Expanded Wandering Monsters with no treasure" chart, we tend to rest every two-three encounters.

    What Do You Pick First

It really depends on what inspires me. Sometimes I pick a particular weapon then try to think of combinations of class/race/feats that make it more effective (example: Net. Result: Human War Domain Cleric with Sharpshooter that throws a net, then uses a bonus action to throw a dart with -5...

What is your group’s roleplaying level?

I did this occasionally with a slightly dyslexic sorcerer. I would do a random check to see if the cast Firebolt or mixed up the spell and got "Fire blot" instead. (For him "fire blot" would be the bonfire cantrip.) I would then describe how he fumbled the spell and it transformed from...

What is your group’s roleplaying level?

Fully Committed. When I let them out of their cells in my basement, they stay fully in character. Or they don't get fed.

D&D 5E Resurrecting dead from millenia?

In my home campaign, I've ruled that if you die while wearing a Ring of Mind Shielding and your soul stays in the ring, you can be raised/ressurrected as long as your body is intact enough for the spell (and the ring is on the corpse).

Eberron to get it's own season 8 AL campaign around the time Dragon Heist is released

Adventures League is NOT strictly RAW. Never has been. It's mostly RAW with campaign specific rulings and DM specific rulings for grey areas. (Sage Advice can be used or ignored at the DM's discretion, for example.) Adventures League has their own set of changes to the main rules (mainly...

Magic "Weapons" for monks unarmed attacks?

The monk in the campaign I'm running right now has the "Handwraps of the Living Stone Sage" - previously used by a famous monk explorer and sage from their order. These wrappings cover the hands, forearms, and shins, and give +1 to hit/dam and +1d6 bludgeoning damage on unarmed strikes as your...

Dark Sun Giant PC Race (Built as a Medium Creature)... thoughts?

Basically they get everything the Goliath gets, plus more stuff. I don't think the hunger and disadvantage on Charm are a significant downside in a normal campaign (I almost never see rations tracked, so now you just aren't tracking twice as many rations). Hunger might be more of a...

Dark Sun Giant PC Race (Built as a Medium Creature)... thoughts?

It's easily more powerful than the Goliath, the existing Giant-kin race. So from that perspective, no it's not balanced. If you are planning on using it in an exclusively Dark Sun campaign, it may be fine. Still seems kind of strong to me.

    Pretty much. :)

    Roll20 Weighs in on Esports

Shows like Critical Role are more like watching an Improv Soap Opera. Very random and entertaining, and you feel a personal attachment to the players and their characters. But I think a corporate sponsored "E-sports" version would be more like Reality TV - with carefully orchestrated...

    Willy Wonka based magic items

They did encounter the chocolate river - they had to fight Chocolate Puddings (reskinned Black Puddings that didn't do acid damage, but could coat you in rapidly hardening chocolate) and later ran from a Chocodile.

    Willy Wonka based magic items

I did a one shot adventure for some friends today, loosely based on the "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" book and movies, complete with singing Oompa Loompa's and weird magic items. (At the end of the session the characters also ended up with the Golden Ticket which can summon the Great...

    D&D 5E The Clean Sheet

If someone is feeling a bit ambitious, something I've wished for is a section on the second page for Ki abilities and their costs, something you could swap out the spell section for. Right now you can swap out the spell section for either spells in 1 column, in 2 columns, or for extra notes...

    Season 8 Changes (Adventurers League)

I could be remembering incorrectly (posting from work, don't have time to research), but I think there was mention of some mods possibly giving out bonus gold as well as unlocking magic items?

    Season 8 Changes (Adventurers League)

Don't complain to me, I had no part of this. Complain to the campaign admins.

    Season 8 Changes (Adventurers League)

You get whatever gold is listed in the adventure or hardcover. Tends to be rather variable, from 50 to 200 gp an adventure at low levels, up to several thousand gp an adventure in the higher levels, with certain encounters in the hardcover books giving tens of thousands of GP (usually as part...

    Season 8 Changes (Adventurers League)

My guess is that it's not an item you can find in the DMG - normally Mithral armor doesn't have a magical bonus. The main use (I've seen) is for clerics with a low strength score, since Mithral armor eliminates the strength requirement. This allows an 8 str cleric to wear the equivalent of...
