Maybe a new setting is what I need to enable me to enjoy 3e more.

"3rd Edition Mindset"? I honestly don't get what the big deal is. I'm ecstatic that the ruleset eliminates some of the arbitrary rules, but it's not like allowing dwarven wizards took some great feat of game design. Restricting choices because of the style of the campaign is good...

I remember the original thread(s). These are great. Are they archived anywhere, or does anyone have a link to the original threads?

    Redesigning and re-branding EN World

I felt the need to donate a few bucks before I spoke my mind. - Name: At least keep the address - that would be a pain for less fequent visitors. Any of the 3EN ideas wouldnt' be bad but I don't think the name is a big deal as is. - Colours: As others have said, they are soothing. My...

Greatest Villian of All Time (You Decide)

To quote Justin Achilli, "...Darth Vader was choking his own generals thirty seconds into the movie. Darth Maul just had horns."

    Boston

I'm in the Boston area and also looking for a game. I'd be happy to DM, and have a plcae to play, transportation, and a reasonably flexible schedule. widderslainte@attbi.com

    Fantasy gods, religion, and philosophy

I don't think von Daniken was ever "bunked" in the first place.

DM looking for players in the Boston area

I'm sure you've heard this story before. DM since mid 80's, strayed from D&D but brought back by 3E. I'm a bit rusty but dying to play. I live on the North Shore, but have transportation. Please email widderslainte@attbi.com

Advice Sought for New Player in My Campaign

Stand tough. Unless he's some rage-obsessed munchkin tell him to play a fighter or ranger instead of the barbarian. I always thought they were a little pointless. The druid sounds pretty integral to your plot, so it ridiculous for him to ruin what you plsnned out for everyone else. As to the...

    Evil Bard Prestige Class?

Obviously! You should try the evilest PC of all, the Barrister, which you can find here.

Killing the Cleric, bit by bit.

Thanks, that was the feat I was thinking of. I knew I saw it somewhere.

Killing the Cleric, bit by bit.

The next step woudl be: Theurgy [Feat] [General] ------------------------- Prerequisites: Faith, Relgion (1+Spell Level Cast), Wisdom (10+Spell Level Cast), Ability to cast Arcane spells of same level. Benefit: The character can now prepare and cast spells from the Healing domain, replacing a...

    Ritual Magic Rules? Bueller? Bueller?

I'm looking for Ritual Magic rules (other than the S&S stuff in Relics and Rituals), homebrew or published? Anyone?

Killing the Cleric, bit by bit.

This is a hastily written draft. This feat is proposed as part of a larger house rule (forthcoming). I will slowly kill off the Cleric class. I seem to recall a parallel (sort of) Arcane magic feat, which I can't seem to find. If you know what I'm talking about, pointers are appreciated...

    One Class

I'd certainly drop it down to the main four classes. I always thought the Barbarian was just an excuse to rage. Certainly not sorcerors, and the paladin should be a prestige class if anything. One class? I don't know. At that point you real have zero classes. I'd love to see more though...

    Take that Vance!

I'm still here. All the board switching and wonky dates threw me off the scent momentarily. - Cost: I enjoy keeping characters poor, but I hadn't really thought about this initially. I've never been stingy with the slingstones though. - Crystal Focus: I *love* Dreamchaser's idea in this...

    Take that Vance!

That was actually my original intent. Of course it does belong in my truly wacky campaign idea.

    Take that Vance!

Thanks Dreamchaser, you pretty much wrote up exactly what I had envisioned.

    Take that Vance!

Thanks everyone for your comments. Bwgwl, those benchmarks are very helpful. kolvar, the disarming point is valid, but if I was taking this feat as a Wizard, I'd expect a little more than what I could do with any simple missile weapon. As to the "ammunition" advantage, I've pondered that...
