KISS is usually the best way - for both users and mods - to get points across. The (way smaller) boards I moderate have the standard red font is the Mod Voice. I think any time a mod, who is volunteering their time, making it all the more precious, has to step in, the users should understand...

I don't personally use the Ignore feature, but as a Mod on a couple other forums I would definitely suggest it as a tool. Not necessarily a recommendation as a tool to make your experience on the boards what you want it to be. Some people have a lower tolerance for "rude" (or whatever) than...

I know it isn't the same, but at least you can just choose the last page. If the topic isn't highlighted as having new posts, just click right on the last page. Still more clicks than you wanted, but less than going to the first post.
