Holy Water or other weapons for undead?

Are you sure about that? Reading "vulnerable" on page 283 of MM it just says "When an attack deals damage of the specified type, this monster takes the indicated amount of extra damage of the same type." Surely the ongoing damage should be included in this? After all, it is caused by the attack...

    D&D 4E Original Freeport trilogy in 4E

    Yeah, that's good. Thanks, pemerton!

Holy Water or other weapons for undead?

Yes, I might up the effect a bit by adding "ongoing 0 radiant damage (save ends)". I like the picture it paints of the holy water slowly eating away zombie face.

Holy Water or other weapons for undead?

My (former 3.x) players asked me the same thing. So I let them buy holy water for 25 gp per vial. Thrown Holy Water Standard Action Ranged 3/6 Target: One creature Attack: Dexterity vs. Reflex Hit: 0 radiant damage Nothing too exiting really, but they liked being able to get it.

    D&D 4E Original Freeport trilogy in 4E

Thanks for the links and the words of advice. I've started with Death in Freeport and found that there aren't too many monsters to convert. Mostly humans and serpent people. The initial encounter (the press gang) works very well with just a leader and scores of minions. The tricky thing is...

    Collected Core Handbook Errata

Two lines below that we find "Help a dying character recover". That application of the Heal skill is not listed in PH. Also, on the second panel, the action "Ready or stow a shield" is listed as a minor action, but it's a standard action in the rule book (table on page 289). At last, in the...

    D&D 4E Original Freeport trilogy in 4E

This is a request for ideas. I had been placing clues leading the party to Freeport for some time when the news of 4E hit. Not wanting to switch systems in the middle of a long adventure, I placed some side treks to delay them on their travel down to Freeport. Now then time has come to start...

Pre-gens for The Last Breaths of Ashenport

That feat won't work with his battleaxe. It's for light and heavy blades.

D&D 4E Bag of Tricks seems to be a look into 4E summoning

It has to be adjacent and able to attack, so I suppose it needs a ranged attack to give flanking.

A new fighter at-will for marking multiple targets

By that reasoning the Paladin At-Will "Valiant Strike" is imbalanced too. That power doles out +1 attack bonus per adjacent enemy. That's a +8 attack bonus total when you are surrounded. It completely breaks the standard machanics set by At-Will powers. A first level fighter with Wis 20...

D&D 4E Bag of Tricks seems to be a look into 4E summoning

As a Tiny creature the kitty can't attack adjacent enemies, so how can the rogue get a flank from the kitty?

Paladin's Challenge: Midway between the new and old

I did exaclty the same thing. Works a lot better than Wizard's fix in my opinion. I like that a paladin engaged in melee still can "pull" another enemy to him. I also added that a mark that is lost by retreating means you can't use the power until after the end of your next turn. Otherwise...

How to rule Deft Strike regarding corners and new stealth?

Yes, but on the other hand, since the heavy smoke probably blocks Line of Sight, P can't see M.

    Collected Core Handbook Errata

Yes, I do understand the difference in what they describe. However, they both describe how you trace an imaginary Line of Sight from one of your corners to a corner of the target. One rule says that a line of sight is blocked of it touches an obstacle, the other says it's not. Isn't it strange...

How to rule Deft Strike regarding corners and new stealth?

You are right about only needing superior cover, but there is no such thing as superior concealment. Concealment comes from the terrain or feature of the square you're in, not of intervening squares (PHB, page 281). Correct if you use the rule on page 280, but incorrect if you use the rule on...

Unless someone can explain how the imaginary line can run along the edge of the obstacle and still not touch it, these two paragraphs contradict each other.

    New stealth stuff from WotC

It's named Deft Strike and it's a move not a shift, but otherwise you're quite correct.
