D&D 5E Should DDI 5ed be free with paid content?

I think having the core DDI stuff free with paid content is a better business model. Basically everyone signs up, and gets to tailor their own personal D&D experience. I would much rather pay a dollar or two for a new class, race, or whatnot, than pay a monthly sub. It seems to me that these...

Ability Scores - Should they increase?

Possibly, as per a feat selection or the equivalent. Regardless, attributes should definitely exist on a lower scale as they did in AD&D. Number bloat has been a big problem since 3rd ed. If folks still like these mechanics, they can play pathfinder. :)

    Tell me about Dragon Age

How many games did you run? I wasn't talking about rules in my previous post, I'm instead referring to a lack of lore, creatures, races, spells, ect... Also, there is something called ad&d which falls inbetween your examples. :)

    Tell me about Dragon Age

DA isn't robust enough for PnP yet. It might be in 5 years, however. Both CRPGs are good by their own merits, although a DnD veteran Will likely find the subject matter lacking in one way or another. I do think Bioware has a long term goal, and therefore believe a time may come when Dragon Age...

Ever see a Strengh 18/00 rolled legitimately?

I rolled an 18/100 for a ranger(I made him 6'8" to explain it lol). It was for a campaigns that lasted a single adventure. :( I even drew a sketch dammit haha. Anyways we usually allowed rerolls for characters to get above 18/50, but I don't remember personally playing one of those blasphemies. :)

A reason why 4E is not as popular as it could have been

Clearly, WE are the reason D&D isn't more popular, since the upper 33% of us didn't have a problem with the contemporary system. I wished I'd been a good enough DM to get players interested, but alas it wasn't so. In the old days, many of us were aspiring DMs with an inferior system, and yet...

    Walking away from a game...

Back in February of 2005, my friends and I agreed to play an evil aligned campaign using 3.5 rules. Our long standing DM was very passionate about the project and spent many a day crafting a robust world with interesting races and politics. He is an attorney and huge science fiction buff, so...

    Walking away from a game...

There are some great stories here on this thread, but I'm a little perplexed by how many people here think rape is a worse crime than murder...I can think of several movies I've seen, as well, where the main character is both very likable and a rapist (High Plains Drifter, Flesh + Blood, ect)...

    Is it time for 5E?

Dungeon General's Warning: 5ed Causes Cancer. Playing 5ed By Pregnant Women May Result in Fetal Roleplaying, Premature Lay Offs, and Low Dice Rolls.

    Is it time for 5E?

I always liked character kits: lots of fluff and a little crunch. They should have been more balanced, but they gave a lot of novice roleplayers a good sense of direction. I tend to place a little more importance on fluff in my pnp, but maybe that's just me.

Hybrid D&D: Combining editions (especially 3E and 4E)

Yeah, I've been hybridizing/ bastardizing stuff for a while now ever since I realized 4e wasn't for me. I'm currently in the process of a revamp, though, since I believe a simpler yet more iconic system for roleplay exists somewhere inside my head. My base is AD&D, although I reversed ThaC0 for...

Just ordered Mazes and Monsters DVD!

I thought the first 15 minutes and the theme song were the bad parts, but they were still funny in a cheesy early 80's sort of way.

Just ordered Mazes and Monsters DVD!

Hahahahaha!!!! Seriously I did. I can't explain it, but for some reason I love that movie. I figure that I'm probably crazy, but I like the idea of losing touch with reality. Most of the senile folks I meet are actually quite happy, and there's something super cool about a game that has that...

    Edition Fatigue

Yeah, despite the fact that I liked several things about 3/3.?, I think there were lots of things that could have been improved about 2ed AD&D without wiping the slate clean. From 1978 until 1999, AD&D was basically the same game. If wotc would have simply focused on making a cleaner more...

    Is it time for 5E?

If I were Hasbro, I'd reduce WotC's d&d department down to a skeleton crew, which could churn out a small trickle of new products, while re-releasing all the old products(in pdf or print on demand) as a sign of good faith. Then after a few years and a much needed break, they could hire a bunch...

    Open Apology to Professorcirno

I posted a comment directed toward you on the 5e thread which I am not proud of. I was once very confrontational in real life, and, although I have moved beyond that, the same poor behavior seems to work its way into online forums from time to time. I was drunk, which is a poor defense, when I...

    5e what would you do?

D&D thrives on imagination, not math. Professorcirno, no offense, but your brand of hack and slash is self defeating. I know where you're coming from, but ultimately I feel those goals are better left in the world of video games. I've played lots of video games and you seem to want this kind of...
