Thanks, guys, you've ruined Haste for the rest of us.

So it's no longer as great a personal spell for wizards. So what? It's still a great buff spell for others. I realize that some people think the proverbial lollipop is being taken away from wizards and sorcerers, but wizards aren't weak to begin with and they shouldn't have had the lollipop...

Thanks, guys, you've ruined Haste for the rest of us.

I'm somewhat amazed that while these hypothetical uber-fighters are dealing out 150 to 300 points of damage around with their handy-dandy 20 strengths, and +4 belts of strength, and raging, etc. that none of them are taking any damage during all of this. I mean, we must be fighting the lamest...

Thanks, guys, you've ruined Haste for the rest of us.

You're forgetting that Haste's bonus to AC is a haste bonus and stacks with Mage Armor and Shield. But the argument seems weak. It's a powerful spell. It's just no longer powerful for a wizard. That suits me fine. Wizards are powerful enough as is.

    Monk Revisions

Having been in a game with another player who had a monk, they do seem very weak in comparison to other classes. The item restrictions limit monks considerably. Many of the items that they do get will end up being AC boosting since their combined WIS and DEX bonuses typically add up to same AC...

Another "best product thread" -- with a twist

Best products Monte Cook's The Banewarrens and Mike Mearls' In the Belly of the Beast. Module writing is its own art form, and these guys surpassed themselves with adventures that can suit pretty much any gaming style (hack n' slash, heavy roleplaying, puzzles) while still creating an exciting...

    Arrows...

You fire em, you lose em. Actually, we do this just so that nobody has to remember how many arrows were fired. My players are pretty good at keeping track of stuff like this, and I keep them honest by checking that they are actually writing stuff like arrow counts down.

    Physical Form for an Artifact

The artifact could be a pair of statues that together form one single scene. The statues reflect the balance of good and evil within nature. One statue could be a demon, an elemental or a storm giant, and represents nature at it's most tempetuous and destructive. It could have powers that...

campaign I'm working on (plz look)

Well, sounds like a decent premise for an adventure, but a couple of things I'd like to point out are: 1) Preventing characters from teleporting out of the dungeon. I find that unless there is very good reason for this (i.e. the PC's are on another plane or there is a specific spell preventing...

Do you use a computer to help you create 3E characters and monsters?

I use Heroforge, a nice little program that uses Microsoft Excel and produces very good results. To top it off, I'm fairly good with Excel, so I can modify it fairly easily if need be. Unfortunately, I don't know if the guy who built it is supporting it any longer. His site hasn't been...

[Rant] is D&D going the way of the CCG?

Since everyone hear obviously has an internet connection, then you can always get the new rules from the System Reference Document. Sheesh, I've never heard so many people complain about spending money on a game they play regularly before, particularly one in which they could pay a grand total...

    Return to the Barrier Peaks

Well...then at least let's go back to Dungeonland and the Land Behind the Magic Mirror.....that place was kewl. :D

    Return to the Barrier Peaks

Ye gods, let's go to some new places rather than returning to old ones!

    I love those gnomes!

First of all, sorry if you're bored. If I had known you had answered it before, I wouldn't have asked. Thanks, that's a pretty good explanation, and far more interesting than what is presented in the PHB and various Dragon articles.

Does D&D combat break the fantasy?

"Yes, this sort of thing could lead to more pc deaths. Or maybe it would encourage pc's to try other ways of overcoming obstacles rather than just trying to kill everybody." Heh, you weren't looking for a solution other than fighting when you wanted to off those two guards with one shot in your...

What version of D&d/d20 do you plan on playing a year from now?

But Psion.....what about all those times when you put skeletons up against Titans? Those Titans aren't getting their fair shake if they're damage is being halved! ;)

    Happy birthday, Monte Cook!

3.5? That doesn't come out til this summer...... OHHHHHH, you mean he's 35! I gotcha. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MONTE!

Does D&D combat break the fantasy?

As mentioned, the system doesn't support insta-kills unless the DM places schlubs with 4 hit points as the guards. Not that that isn't a good solution. The problem with creating an insta-kill rule in D&D is then the DM is left with the problem of having a rule that could also be used against...

    I love those gnomes!

Not to ruffle any feathers (though I'm sure this will), can someone explain to me what role gnomes play in a D&D game? Elves, I get. Dwarves, I understand. Halflings, ditto. But whenever somebody has chosen to play a gnome in a game, I find them indistinguishable from the person playing the...

New Haste - Does it Fix Your Concerns?

I think this could've been a good solution too, though I also think it would still need to be bumped up a level or two.

    Who "Owns" Old PC's?

So......why are you asking us then whether you can or not? It's a simple matter. The guy asked you not to. It's your choice whether you're going to do it or not.
