    Dragons of Autumn Twilight

"The road northeast looks like it could be very, very interesting," remarks Tas with great interest regarding its foreboding appearance. The dense, impenetrable tableaux was potentially full of exciting new unknowns.

HM's Dragonlance game converted to Pathfinder - recruiting

(The Rogues' Gallery doesn't appear to have any recent posts in it. I'd feel weird posting there. But I found this picture!!!) Race: Kender (using halfling) Class: Rogue(cut-purse)/Ranger(trapper) Level: 6 (5/1) Alignment: Neutral Good Languages: Common, Kenderspeak, Hill Dwarf, Goblin, Elven...

    Upcoming Adventure Review

I'm still looking for feedback on Blackbrick - I need a little more info before I can shape it up into an approval-ready state. Feel free to suggest ideas, ask me questions about my intent, or otherwise discuss it in this thread. Referring to things in vague terms is spoiler-free enough for me.

    D&D 4E If 5e Had Evolved from 4e...

This is a great discussion, but the limitations of XP and the sequential nature of forum posts makes it less useful for organizing and discussing a large number of ideas at once. If, for instance, a bunch of us have a bunch of ideas about completely overhauling 4e (similar to what Pathfinder did...

    [LPF] The Kidnappers' Trail

This is my first LPF adventure. Do things normally take this long to get underway or did I screw things up? I admit I may have been way overdoing it with the paranoid interactions with Damien.

    Top 5 RPGs--Spring 2012

Whoa whoa. I just want to state for the record, my entire table finds Forgotten Realms just as bland as Greyhawk, and due to having missed out on the days of Spelljammer / Planescape / Dark Sun, we were TREMENDOUSLY happy with Eberron giving us a break from the multiple available samey-same...

    Day-Based & Encounter-Based: It's Not Balance, It's Playstyle

People aren't saying the original idea is unworkable, or calling you dumb, or claiming that converting days into encounters is impossible. They're simply pointing out the massive ramifications of such a change. You don't have to say "don't worry, we're handwaving that issue!" in order to protect...

    General Discussion

What's wrong with Cavernous Hode, anyways? I've always wondered about his strange name, but he also seems to have some mental issues.

HM's Dragonlance game converted to Pathfinder - recruiting

Whoops, guess I checked this thread (removing it from my Subscribed Threads) and then forgot to reply or browser crashed or something. 2 points in Linguistics for whichever languages would make the most sense. Rogue Talents: Finesse Rogue Offensive Defense Feats: Taunt (level 1) Weapon...

    Day-Based & Encounter-Based: It's Not Balance, It's Playstyle

Yep. If you rest more often, the wizard is super happy, and the fighter is further overshadowed. Long-term resource drain is the only way an old-school wizard's abilities are fair. Maybe you could halve or quarter casters' "spells per encounter" to make it work, though.

    [LPF] The Kidnappers' Trail

"As long as we know how to identify the guy we want and the guys we don't like, I think we'll be fine, this time." With a chuckle, "A couple of us are new to tasks where you're expected to think for yourselves. I just finished up at university, where thinking for yourself is rather discouraged."

    [LPF] The Kidnappers' Trail

Since replying to Damien doesn't require "the face" to make a social skill roll, I'd like to let someone besides Bipper or Ioseph respond. It feels like half the party disappeared, and Bipper's here to help, not lead. Unable to detect any subterfuge, malicious intent, or callous disregard for...

LEB Discussion Thread '10 Pt 2

Thank you all for the exp, lol. I was actually hoping more for a tip on which character to play... barring that I decided to go with the most versatile one (the sorcerer warlord), who can help out as a leader or as a striker. The other ideas are more focused and thus potentially redundant in a...

    [LPF] The Kidnappers' Trail

Bipper Hammergleam, horc alchemist "That'll depend on who's potentially harmed by our actions. But I'll hear you out." Bipper folded his arms across his chest. Sense Motive vs whatever Damien says next, not that it's super likely to succeed. Best skills: Intimidate/Arcana +8, Diplomacy/UMD...

[Tavern Thread] The Dunn Wright Inn

Freaked-Out Stranger (NPC) Those in the tavern who aren't currently speaking faintly hear a cross between a yell, a shriek, and a yelp from up stairs. After a brief moment of quiet, the noise is followed by a cry of "Gosh dang it!" Everyone then hears a loud slam, repeated eight times. His...

    [LPF] The Kidnappers' Trail

I figure he's either the right guy, in which case let's get him the missive and get the hell moving forward... or he's lying, in which case Bipper's sense motive is crap, so whatevs, but I'm ready to throw down if we need to - there wasn't a weapons check at the door ;)

    D&D 4E If 5e Had Evolved from 4e...

I would probably use Reddit, honestly - with as many "good people" from Fourthparty and Fourthcore as possible overseeing the project. The system of upvotes and downvotes, and threaded replies, is just far, far superior to a linear forum system for efficiently discussing and evaluating the...

[Tavern Thread] The Dunn Wright Inn

Distracted Stranger (NPC) The door to the tavern opens, and no one walks through it. A fella wearing pretty fine garb that's a little bit unkempt is standing just outside. He surveys the room, puts his gloved hand through the doorway, pulls his hand back outside, and inspects it. He looks at...

    D&D 4E If 5e Had Evolved from 4e...

I think the typical 4e player would get annoyed if I dropped a 20 page document filled with house rules in front of them. However, like you said, there's a lot of great stuff in this thread. Stuff I've either already implemented, fantasized about implementing, or stuff where I've noticed a...
