I received a copy of Joy of Cooking when I left home for college in the mid-80's. It had an extensive section that could be best described as 'Roadkill'. It would be an interesting template for this project... :D

I like the idea of the door being a warforged construct - the clue that the door may be sentient is that it is made out of warforged materials.
