Monte Cook presents: Iron Chef

oh, wait... that's something else...

In fact, Empty Room Studios had a 3.5 sourcebook called Cooking With Class that had, among other things, the Adamantine Chef prestige class (adventuring to kill exotic monsters and cook them), as well as several great sections on types of foods in a medieval fantasy worlds (including some made from monsters) and adventure hooks for each type of food. I'll never forget the idea they had for how to make an adventure about cheese..

There was also another PDF bundled in with it with sample menus for various locations, to boot. For some reason though, they seem to have removed the book for sale that I can find.

There's also the humorous Simply Classes: The Foodamancer from Mad Scotsman Games.

One of the later Arduin Grimoires (I forget which at the moment) has an article about a black market eatery that sells endangered, magical, or otherwise weird creatures for consumption.

I've always wanted to see a Monster Manual done in the style of a cookbook.

I received a copy of Joy of Cooking when I left home for college in the mid-80's. It had an extensive section that could be best described as 'Roadkill'. It would be an interesting template for this project... :D

Besides shows like Bizarre Foods (Andrew Zimmern), No Reservations (Anthony Bourdain), Man vs Wild (Bear Grylls), I also like the Iron Chef angle on this whole thing...especially for the showmanship.

I can almost hear his battle cry: "Tonight's ingredient...LANDU SHARKUU!!!!"

And that zombie centaur thing?

I'd probably prefer Troll barbacoa, Brazilian style...

You know, when they bring the food to you on skewers and slice off a little bit?

Best thing...they'd only need one troll. Ever.

Back in the d20 deluge days I talked to a friend about doing something like this. However, he's a flake and while he likes to think of himself as a chef, he's (in my not humble opinion) just a cook and his recipes suck.
