    D&D 4E D&D 4E Rageblood Armor Question

Holy necro batman! I forgot all about this. Dust off my 4e rules judgery, decyphering what I said.... okay. I agree. When a power gives you a power, using that new power is considered 'using a power.' If that power has foo keyword, it would be using a foo keyword. However, we're not...

D&D 5E Allowing more open spell lists?

Something to consider with this-- Would you be equally as willing to allow monks to simply grab superiority dice from fighters instead of some ki ability, or for barbarians to grab the beast companion from ranger, just cause? One underappreciated thing with spell lists is that they are...

Grr, Energy Types Make TS Angry!

While the Divine power source has a lot of Radiant powers, it by no means holds the monopoly. There's quite a few Arcane powers that have it, many of which have nothing to do with divine energies at all. As for the abberant vs psychic energy thing, remember that in the lore, psionic power is...

    Wyan of Bodach info

Rajaat was a mutant, but he discovered sorcery. He also believed firmly in genocide so he taught people he could find sorcery in order to carry out his very evil plan. The Champions of Rajaat were each tasked with the eradication of an entire race of non-human sentient creatures. This was...

Saving Throw vs Death Saving Throw

Agreed. There are some that simply grant a free saving throw.

    Wyan of Bodach info

Wyan of Bodach, Pixie Blight (as well as Sacha of Arala, Curse of the Kobolds) were turned into an undead disembodied head by Borys, and then were serving King Kalak of Tyr as an enslaved advisor, and later, King Tithian.

Saving Throw vs Death Saving Throw

The argument is simpler. Failing a death saving throw has a negative effect; you're one step closer to dying. Failing saving throws at any time other than the end of your turn cannot have any negative effects. None. Zero.

    Variable Resistance

A free action can take place at any time, even in the middle of other actions. It can't rewind time unless it says so. It is neither interrupt nor reaction. A demon can, for example, be hit by a fire power, switch resistance to fire, then resist the fire.

Question on wizard summoning powers - Intrinsic Nature

Agreed. Doesn't matter if it can make the attack or not, you're taking five damage if you don't make the boy hussle.

Mark of Healing: use a healing power on an ally

No, the ally must merely be selected as a beneficiary of the power. A large number of healing powers do not actually target the ally--and not examples like splash healing from shamans, but healing of the 'Hit: 3[W]+Strength, and an ally can spend a healing surge' variety. Does not target, but...

Saving Throw vs Death Saving Throw

Nope. Taking saving throws at any time other than the end of your turn is always risk-free. Both totally count. A rest is a rest.

    The Humble Staff ??

Not really important to the primary point tho; unless it's a class that gives staffs as an implement, you can't use the properties or powers of implement staffs, which is all the OP was asking about.

    The Humble Staff ??

He's not asking if he can use a staff as an implement. He's asking if he can use a magic staff from the list of magic staves as a weapon... and what benefits he gets. The answer is complex. You get the critical and enhancement bonus properties as those have nothing to do with weapon or...

Saving Throw vs Death Saving Throw

A Death Saving Throw is a Saving Throw in all ways. Any abilities that alter or allow you to reroll or roll STs allow you to roll DSTs. However this is not always useful; Most saving throws are used to end effects. Death saving throws, on the other hand, is used to prevent an effect. So...

    Lashing Flail question

Does it say "Melee Basic Attacks also push 1 on a successful hit" or does it say "When you hit with a melee basic attack, push the target one square." In the first, it's an augment, in the second, it's a trigger. If it's a trigger, then it's Lashing Flail providing the push effect, not Melee...

    Lashing Flail question

Lashing Flail is NOT a power, and it's the effect doing the sliding. I have no problem if people do that in games I play or run, but that's not the same as how the rules actually work.

    Typo or deliberate?

As I noted in the XP... 'We're going to make it read as we want it to work so it's not going to cause confusion' is enough to convince me to rethink my position, and I do thank you for tossing your hat into the fray. Applause gif, and all that. I am satisfied.

I wanna make a dual weild Ranger

No doubt. Build a Slayer or Thief, and go twin-strike all the things. Can I Thunderwave everything at a -2 to attack rolls no matter the class? Can I Brute Strike? Can I Howling Strike?

    Shadow as a "power source"?

But Shadow (the power source) isn't the not-Light. The Natural World itself is still very 'dark' and the metaphysical concept of 'light' is absent from most of it. Shadow is a substance, a very specific substance. It's a dark substance that imitates, creates warped versions of reality, and...
