AFAIK, you calculate the attacks and defenses of your Beast exactly as you would any other character, unless otherwise noted through a power/feature.

I have the opposite opinion. Once you get all the conditions down by rote (and since they're so plentiful, it's hard not to), they don't feel wonky at all. And most effects that aren't Save Ends are usually Until End of Character's Next Turn, which is PLENTY of time for the condition to affect...

I think the 3.5 system matches the feel of the comic a bit more than 4E. But they've already made at least one 4E joke, and I'm sure there'll be more. Honestly, I don't give a crap so long as they bring Roy back and things can actually start MOVING ALONG.
