    Map-making Tools

That inclusion right there makes me think seriously about getting the 2008 Annual package...you've given me something to ponder!

    Map-making Tools

Dundijinni is a nifty program, but buggy as all get out. I can make some pretty good maps with it, but too much time ends up wasted dealing with the program's bugs and glitches...and it is SLOW, even on a fast, high-end computer. Often, the biggest glitch is in trying to print a map I've spent...

    D&D 3E/3.5 WotC Rejecting 3.5 Writers?

Jason -- I hope that you and the other folks at Paizo will at some point be able to contribute freelance material to Wizards...you and the others at Paizo rank amongst the best designers in the industry, and I look forward to more of your work in future.

Where's the fun, conflict, drama, and flame potential in THAT stance? :)

    D&D 4E AICN 4e Review Part 2: DMing 4e

I think this is a very true statement, although I don't know if Mouseferatu was directly involved with writing the 4th edition rules or not. I don't know if their group gets to playtest the stuff he designs (for publication), or if some kind of NDA prevents that sort of thing.

    D&D 4E AICN 4e Review Part 2: DMing 4e

Good point -- I have found the RC an extremely helpful book to have. I hadn't thought of that!

    D&D 4E AICN 4e Review Part 2: DMing 4e

Except, of course, embedded reporters are in the midst of life-and-death combat situations, getting to know and even bonding with men and women risking their lives. In addition, reporting negative news, weaknesses, etc. from a combat situation can be construed as harmful to unit morale, and...

    D&D 4E AICN 4e Review Part 2: DMing 4e

I really like the idea of using alphabetization for the combat chapter...a nice, useful innovation, I think. Great review!

Bob Bledsaw of Judges Guild suffering terminal cancer

Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere, but it is worthy of note... Ogre Cave posted the news that Bob Bledsaw, President of Judges Guild, has terminal cancer. The news can be found here: http://ogrecave.com/2008/02/01/judges-guild-founder-struggling-with-cancer/#comments Thoughts and...

Andy Collin's comments re censoring playtester reviews

Read Bill Slavicsek's notes on the Design & Development article regarding the Pit Fiend (towards the bottom of the page). "The Player's Handbook is in Typesetting, and we're poring over the galleys to make every last improvement we can before it goes to print. The Monster Manual is in its last...

The Soul of and Drama in D&D

I didn't get the whole "soul" thing...Not sure how a game has, or does not have, "soul." How does a game lose its soul, or regain it once lost? What is the definition of "soul" in regards to a role-playing game? Are miniatures and square grids harbingers of soul loss? Perhaps in future when...

This seems likely to me -- May is still a ways off.

    Unexpected Reactions

The designers have mentioned they pay attention to consumer comments and feedback. From what I have heard and read, it sounds like the Monster Manual IV feedback had a direct impact on the design of MMV, as an example. The designers working on 4e play D&D, work on D&D, have their own home...

How long are your weekly rpg sessions?

My group meets every other Saturday. We start at 1:30 p.m., break for dinner at 5 or 6 p.m. for an hour, and then go back to playing until 11 p.m. or midnight...on rare occasion, we go until 1 a.m.

D&D Game Table not Mac-Compatible at launch

This is unfortunate. I hope WotC remembers Mac users for this set-up.

What options have you regreted allowing in your game?

Wholeheartedly agree -- touch of golden ice is a royal pain in the butt...My next campaign, this book is no longer on the list of sources we are using.
