    CR/ECL/Level Adjustments

in reality D&D and modern are two seperate systems, even though they have compariable parts to each other. You can not really compare them, as they do have some major differences I feel. Money being one of them thats for sure...the costs are not in any shape or form easy to change between and...

    size attack modifiers

thanks It solved an issue I had with my vast sizes and the mods. A extermely larger craft had next to no chance of hit a smaller craft in combat, just setting the TH by the craft size. I watched a WW2 bomber movie and saw that the guns are not connected to the plane and thus turreted weapons...

[SWSE] How do you deal with exp in starship battles?

glad to see they did not fix up the vehicle xp issue from future. :( My suggestion is to treat all vehicles as equipment, thus the craft itself grants no xp for destroying it the pilot does. So if the players have certain craft and this allow the NPCs to have the same then the pilots CR is...

    size attack modifiers

I changed the mod system to be the size of the weapon sets the size mod, not the size of the thing using it.

    I hate cross class skills....

fresh post with changes Basics: LM = learning mod (average of mods for INT and WIS, rounded down) Start: During starting occupation you can assign the limit of the available skills up to max of 3 or 5 for specialised without a check. To add to ranks skills: Learning check using LM as the...

    I hate cross class skills....

A lot of the system require some of this class or that class and then you end up with a pretty poor character, some abilities you will never use or a poor combat character for a PrC that is combat based etc etc etc. And his suggestions are too simplistic for me as well, checks and balances work...

    I hate cross class skills....

It is a discussion and I try to listen to all sides. I can see its not for you...just as cross class are not for me. Not everyone likes a systems rules...thats why we have HR :D and yes using a more complex system you need to put more effort into it. I found the same thing when my PCs made...

    I hate cross class skills....

I have gone away from that idea....the number of skills is now completely open. The main restrictors are: 1, number of free attempts allowed per level, and 2, time and cost to learn more skills (which has a learning check as well, after all you can fail!) I think that's enough without...

    I hate cross class skills....

yep..I agree jdrakeh This is not really for use in modern or D&D or such, but you can if you like the idea as a HR. This is for my system I am designing. I like the idea of a class (less) system. I still have classes but they don't define what the character is. You can take strong and be...

    I hate cross class skills....

Under the D&D 3.5 system he would get what 1 as the min any way as a barbarian or fighter. And pick from handle animal, ride or climb etc...not much RP value in them is there! Mine at least gives you a "chance" to get more skills. Because as you said they should be able to acquire some...

    I hate cross class skills....

After they scrap you up and make a new clone....lol I do see your point, but just see that it would overload the checks. Maybe a fail and not major fail might allow a check....goes to think about it. Cheers for all the feedback.

    I hate cross class skills....

1: I changed that idea after the 1st reply. There is no limit to the number of skills a character can have a rank in. 2: Int based skills are still Int based skills. I never said i was changing the skill base mods, only the way the number of free skills (attempts) that a character has, as...

    I hate cross class skills....

I have really made them all class skills....I think I just out thought myself...lol yer they get free skills per level, but can only assign the free skills to those skills they have had a successful check for, trained or untrained. You can go to learning place to get more skills, they havea...

    I hate cross class skills....

I dislike the cross class idea for games like d20 m and D&D. I don't want to use skill sets or areas or such that I have seen in other systems either. I like the idea to select on a free base type set up, with a few restrictions. so this is my idea Basics: LM = learning mod (average of mods...

    Changing the rules (d20 Modern)

I hate cross class skill system. It forces characters to use a rigid career path set for them and does not allow for a true flexiable system which allows the players to make a character they want without having to multi-class!

    Changing the rules (d20 Modern)

the d20M system works well, but if you try to strap on the future rule sets it starts to become clunky and some parts don't fit together at all. The urban arcana seems to fit well inot modern system as well, as it is aimed at a lower powered game for psionics and magic.

    Changing the rules (d20 Modern)

    Changing the rules (d20 Modern)

yep each level of complexity to their own...most materials have the DR (hardness) stated, so its pretty easy to have that table near by...but GM calls work as well :D this just stops players complaining why last time the wall stopped it and this time they did not.
