    D&D 5E Realms shaking events

I reckon three Realms-shaking events: 1) The Time of Troubles 2) The Spellplague 3) The Sundering All other big events in FR either fall under the scope of the big three or are not truly 'world-shaking' (for instance, the death of Mystryl and the birth of Mystra were important, but didn't...

D&D 5E Can you Dodge and Attack on the same turn?

Some class features (such as Monk's Patient Defense) or situations (such as being mounted) can allow for a character to take a Dodge action without using his actual action for the turn. That way, a Monk could use a bonus action so that all attacks against him have disadvantage until his next...

D&D 5E Am I the only one that dislikes Adventure Paths?

I have nothing against the AP format itself, personally. What I dislike about many PF's APs is the excessive focus on NPC background and setting minutiae, which IME rarely (if ever) comes up during play. While 5e's Tyranny of Dragons AP was far from perfect, what I did like about it was the...

More on SWORD COAST LEGENDS: Campaign Tools & Starting Races

Good news for you: after the Elemental Evil story-arc launch, Neverwinter will have every character class extended up to level 70, and the new Paladin class! I don't think WotC is planning to cut the support for Neverwinter anytime soon.

Video Review of Temple of Elemental Evil Board Game

For those with experience in the D&D Adventure System games and other games -say, Eldritch Horror, which I'm a big fan of-, how do they compare? Are they crunchier, lighter, or about the same? All of the people I play board games with are also roleplayers, so the only reason we meet to play a...

    Greg Tito Is UHURA!

I don't know about geek politics or gamergate (nor I really care for that matter). All can I say is I'll never wish someone to be unemployed.

    Behind the Screens: Worldbuilding

This is a nice article. Nothing groundbreaking, but good old advice nonetheless.

D&D 5E Can you like both 5e and Pathfinder?

Sure you can, and a lot of gamers I know enjoy both games. As a DM, PF is far too complex for me too run, and as a player I suck at optimized character builds and end up being dead weight for the party, so I stay away from most PF games. But I don't have anything against the game itself.

    D&D 5E Any Realms news?

If there's a demand for them, I'm pretty sure setting books will eventually be published. The silence from WotC worries me from time to time, but I don't think the only valid interpretation for it is "there won't be any setting books". Since the 'default' world for DnD is now officially Toril, I...

    D&D 5E Any Realms news?

WotC has been laying low regarding announcements (for instance, nobody was expecting Sword Coast Legends) so the fact that they haven't announced a FR setting book doesn't mean we won't get one. Ed has been talking stuff on the Candlekeep forum, so maybe he is working on it (or maybe doing prep...

"Tabletop D&D Has Lost Its Way" Says Pathfinder Video Game Exec

I stand corrected. Looks like WotC got the drop on us and announced Sword Coast Legends. Glad to see the kind of games I enjoyed about a decade ago are still selling well!

New Cooperative D&D Video Game Allows a DM To Run The Adventure

Looks nice! Need to see the specs before pre-ordering, though. My PC is not on the cutting-edge.

    Deluxe Dungeon Master's Screen

4 out of 5 rating for Deluxe Dungeon Master's Screen The 5e DM Screen features some beautiful art on both sides of the screen and includes a handful of useful tables, plus the full text for Conditions. I'd wish it had more useful stuff (the NPC generation part takes a lot of space, IMO), but...

"Tabletop D&D Has Lost Its Way" Says Pathfinder Video Game Exec

I clamor for these settings as well, but IMO TSR published too many supplements and boxed sets long after it was profitable to do so. It may have not been the only reason behind the fall of TSR, but I think it was one of the causes. EDIT: for instance, I loved 4e Dark Sun and long to see a 5e...

"Tabletop D&D Has Lost Its Way" Says Pathfinder Video Game Exec

Forgive my skepticism, but to me this looks like a comment out of spite more than an objective assessment of the matter. The fact that WotC doesn't want to make yet another D&D game in the vein of NWN may as well be because such games don't sell as they did in their time, like it or not. Also...
