Or a catapult. Or a house. Or a large pile of quarter staffs. Or anything that's not a ship.

    half-orc wizard suggestions

Practiced Spellcaster is probably suboptimal with only one lost level. At this level, SR probably isn't a concern, so your getting +33% damage or duration, which will only go down as you gain levels. With your stats, being a front-liner seem possible. You're low on hit points, but not as bad...

    -10 + 1/2 level

I used the following house rule for dying. If your hit points decrease to a negative number, make a Fortitude save, taking your current hit points as a penalty. If you fail DC 1, you die. If you make DC 11, you stabilize. Otherwise, nothing happens. On your turn, if you are at negative hit...

Quick question - Ray of Enfeeblement

If he's targeted with a dispel magic, it would need to take down all three spells to eliminate the strength penalty.

    Low level cleric power

I recently started building a character for an online, PvP arena game. I was planning on building a Crusader/some magic user gestalt character. It's easy to find the viewpoint that clerics make great fighters, so I expected the magic user side to be a cleric. At 10th level or so, it's easy to...

[Combat, Weapons] Crits for Con damage

You also need some way to deal with the fact that the Scythe (20/x4) is no longer such a great weapon for criticals. You could say it does x3 the base damage as Con damage, but then it's really vicious when it hits, as well as highly variable. Actually, it doesn't really increase the...

    Does the ranged character stink?

Uh, yeah. I was remembering what my cleric paid for them, which was 80 gp and a few XP.

    Does the ranged character stink?

While it won't help much at this level, start collecting bane arrows as soon as you can afford them. A single bane arrow is 80 gp and gets +3 to hit and 2d6+3 damage against the appropriate foe. Move 10 feet for skirmish, then fire an arrow for 1d8+3d6+3 damage. The last archer I played was...

Do you think the ___ Orb line of spells are too powerful?

This point I agree with. I would probably change it to Evocation (SR: Yes) or slow the scaling of damage. The secondary effect requires a touch attack and a save, so there's a decent chance it will fail. The secondary effect probably is still on the high side of the power curve for a 4th...

Law vs. Chaos - the forgotten conflict

I've started developing a LvC campaign. I know that Paladins will get a minor rewrite (to be LAWFUL Good instead of Lawful GOOD). Does anybody have ideas about how to modify a cleric to deemphasize GvE? Are there other classes that need/should be modified for such a campaign?

    New PrC: Crime Boss

Some minor comments and one larger criticism. Prestige classes don't grant x4 skill points at first level. BAB doesn't list iterative attacks, since it's added to the other classes you have and you don't know when the next iterative will appear. The skill list seems short for a class with...

    Permanecy o Permanecy

It's a cost. Probably less than in 1E, but it's still a cost. Dispel Magic can target a person, which causes a dispel check against all the spells on him (including the permanent spells). It's 1d20 + dispel caster level vs 11 + perm caster level when permanency was cast. That bold bit is...

    Maximizing Spells Question

Can I answer no to an either/or question? Maximize is a +3 metamagic. You'd require a 6th level slot. Answering the question I think you're trying to ask, all you need is the 6th level slot. Even if you've used all your 3rd level slots, you could still cast a maximized lightening bolt...

Endless Attack Option for Casters: Mana Spark

This seems rather like a spell, which usually ignores DR. You also need to specify the caster level for SR, which is probably the caster level in the class that qualifies them for the feat. Does it provoke AoO? That said, it's weak for a feat. I might consider it if I was playing a first...

    Paladin Actions - Appropriate?

Not by the rules. A Paladin who commits a chaotic act is just that. A Paladin (with all his powers) who has just committed a chaotic act. A Paladin who commits an evil act is an ex-Paladin. One chaotic act does not cause an alignment change. Even a Paladin who knowingly commits an evil...

    Revenance + Revivify

Since Revenance works as Raise Dead, the combo costs 1000 gp and a level. So it's definitely inferior to True Res, since True Res doesn't have the level cost. Compared to Raise Dead, it costs two spells instead of one (one of which must be cast in combat during a very short time window)...

Does Power attack's damage bonus apply to the Trample [Ex] ability?

Are you allowed to power attack on a Coup de Grace? There's no attack roll, but I've never seen a game where it wasn't allowed. It's also easy to think of instances where you would want to take the power attack penalty, even though you knew you weren't going to attack on your turn. "I PA at...

    Questions about Armor Spikes...

While it's a nice picture, I wouldn't allow it unless you bought and enchanted multiple sets of armor spikes. And I'm not sure if I'd allow multiple sets. It is only one weapon, and I don't want to think about how you'd divide the d4 (or whatever damage dice) and other bonuses among the targets.
