Roll of the Permanently Dead (Spoilers)

Hi, this is intended to be the roll of the dead and is a place for players to list their characters name and how they died (level details too). It is ONLY intended to be for Characters that have perma died (that is the character is not back alive again or a Zombie/Skeleton for another...

Here's That SCAG Table of Contents!

I was actually hoping that they would again just concentrate purely on FR on a FR sourcebook. I understand there are fans of other setting,s but I dont see any reason to simply put stuff in this book because there are. Such GMs should be able to use their gm skills to modify it for their own...

Here's That SCAG Table of Contents!

Ill definetly be buying this (and just Amazon'd it) if only for the fluff and the maps. I can gladly leave the Mechanics.

    LE Paladin in Adventurer's League

At a Convention? I dont think the DM would have time to help the player out with that. The issue here being that as DM's we can tell players a lot that they must read the Current season players guide. That they should. And thats all we can do. We cant stand over them whilst they read the...

The Angry GM on D&D Encounters

Kalani: Its entirely possible nobody there had a copy of the Module or anything else Expeditions wise. Its impossible to run a game if nobody actually has the resources on them to run the game. And I agree it is a major problem with the gaming industry. Too many players, too few dms. However...

Philosophical approaches of PFS and Adventurer's League

Exactly. +1 to above. Anything that promotes gaming at a store location over gaming at someones house gets my vote

I'm just not seeing Sword Coast Legends as a game running tool.

That was 15 years ago? There are 16 -17 year olds that have never played that nor ever will! Time erases all gamer memories :)

Philosophical approaches of PFS and Adventurer's League

Confused? Older stuff in PFS? why are you asking in the AL group? As for older modules in 5e? At the moment you can run Hoard of the Dragon Queen, Tyranny of Dragoms, Princes of the Apocalypse or Out of the Abyss. (assuming you meet the other qualifiers). Are you referring to the previous 4e...

The Angry GM on D&D Encounters

Ive finally had a chance to read the original blog post. I think he does have soem valid points in amongst the hyperbole. Ive always felt that the Modules (the hardcovers) dont really fit with AL. They are obviously not written for AL and while many people can make it work for them in AL...

Using one Deity to represent another

Agreed. Generally in the Realms, Dwarves worship Dwarven Deities as the Elves worship their own Deities. (It also matters more to the Gods since their power was tied to worshipper numbers). Thats entirely a story fluff viewpoint though. Hopefully the SCAG can put a bit more of this topic to rest.

DM Discussion thread: The Occupation of Szith Morcane

Do you think there is any chance of the actual PDF getting the updates? Ive noticed the FAQ now is getting really really big, which I dont think is a particuarly good thing. If only to correct the spelling mistakes and typo errors on the front pages. We are gonna have characters die because of...

DM rewards for running Adventurer's League - what are your thoughts?

Sorry, that last part was in reply to a post above that appears to have been deleted. I cant see it anymore. Someone stated that the playing experience was Qualitatively better than dming. I disagreed.

    LE Paladin in Adventurer's League

I have a LOT of AL characters locally who are neutral in some description. Many LN, many CN.

DM rewards for running Adventurer's League - what are your thoughts?

I believe that means he dms AL far more than he plays (like me). So his DM credit has shot him to 4th level and he gained enough exp to get him to that 5th level. Or he got his 20 downtime (10 per scenario) and shot himself to 5th. I have 4 DM credit characters, one is a 5th, 3 4's and a 2...

Online Games: Why Recording of online games is great

Id like to prefix what Im about to say first. Im almost exclusively an AL DM. I get to play maybe once every couple of Months and run Wed Encounters, and Expeditions almost every Saturday at 2 different locations. Im also sadly unable to play online games. Whilst there are games that fit my...

Using one Deity to represent another

I think it matters more only in the context of any mechanical situations that arise ie the Acolyte feat and an in game reference to 'Clerics of Sune' etc. If an in game Expeditions scenario said 'Clerics of Sune are not stripped of their weapons when they end the Glade of Love', then the...

DM Discussion Thread: Boltsmelter's Book (Spoilers)

I think AL is certainly far more rewarding for players who can think on their feet. Its going to get very distressing for those who cannot. In that first battle, the guys who always plays Fighters who never surrender/others with the same viewpoint to gaming are going to get incredibly frustrated.

    LE Paladin in Adventurer's League

THats because Alignment does somewhat reflect personality. Its a two way street. Ones Alignment is reflected in a persons personality and personalitycan and generally does dictate alignment. Paladins have essentially become a variable alignment Holy Warrior for their God. They are the Militant...

D&D Expeditions: DDEX3-2 Shackles of Blood (spoilers)

Im running this , this weekend along with a fellow dm (our first local double running! :) ). I had advised him the Ambush encounter needs to be played out straight to the point with a mind to capturing the pcs. I think my tables will attempt to possibly fight at the camp because there are 6/1...
